After choosing base map closest to what I have installed... I decided to start an auto tune.

This takes your chosen map and allows the FP3 to fine tune the tables to your sled.

I plugged in the FP3, hooked up with my phone via BT... and selected the auto tune... 127 miles later... here is what my table looks like...

Orange means it needs to learn.. green means completed.

I am going to try to populate more of the table with specific scenarios like rollons and WOT and full decels in all gears... then we will see if that helps populate the table a bit more...

Well that's pretty cool spazz if you need help filling in some of the blocks let me know I will come ride the days lights out of it for ya lol. But for real that is a interesting tuner may have to look at one

I see your still playing with Mojo's mysterious present. Looks like fun may go that route myself here pretty soon also so be ready to help. lol Been kind of sitting back and watching and reading about what everybody is doing to see what works best for the dollar spent. Last bike I was on the 3rd controller before I found what worked best for the bike. Live and learn as they say and the fun getting there can get really exciting.

I got a couple responses from another forum and they all are saying that what I have is typical... some didn't even get as much as me.... I'm hoping for more populated blocks once I run some scenarios. I will screenshot again after I get some seat time with scenarios to compare....

so far... I like it. I played with a couple maps and found one that ran the best before starting the auto tune. This is too easy though... no kidding.

A little update... 266 miles now...

Looking at this tuner for a new bike that I just picked up. When you run your autotune will the unit fit behind the sidecover or does it have a longer lead for that?

Keep us informed, i have the fp3 installed but no chance to ride yet.

Yes... you can tuck in in there... I keep mine there... just in case...

Screenshot_2015-03-22-12-30-16.jpg first riding session doing the auto tune. rode about 104 miles. on the freeway then hit the backroads. still have a lot to do. I love this tuner:D

gonzalez817- The more I see of this tuner the more impressed I am!

Heres my 2 cents. just finished putting everything back on the bike for my stage one last nite. now it was time for the fp3.
a little apprehensive but started the process to download the map that v&h recommended. Took about 10 minutes and it was done. Now it's time to fire that thing up. Hit the switch and she started right up. It was close to 10 pm but I had to take her out for a little ride. only had time for about a 15 min ride. No hesitation, no back firing, seemed to run strong.
Today I took it out for about 4 hours and spanked her good. I can't tell you how happy I am with the whole stage one setup and the fp3 made the whole thing easier and she runs fantastic with their canned map. I'll probably do the auto tune but it would be hard to imagine this running any better.
FP3 couldn't be any easier. Big thumbs up.

If you have no lag, hesitation or deceleration pop... no need for autotune... run it like you stole it.

If you still want to try it... do it...

If it runs better... keep it. If not, revert back to the canned map

OK, Took her out today and pushed her pretty hard again. This time I got some decel pop a couple times in 4th after running the rpms up there and then sudden back off.
So it's auto tune time. But I've got a couple questions. Does the auto tune enhance the existing map or will it replace it completely. The guy at V&H said if I do one I should run 3 one hour sessions. 1 hour learn apply, 1hour learn apply, 1hour learn apply finish. From what Ive seen here it looks like you guys are running longer sessions and more of them to get your graph populated in green. Can you run several sessions over a week and as long as you don't hit the finish button they will be saved and applied? and then when your satisfied you finish the auto tune. As you apply sessions will the bike run better? Or will the existing map run on its own until all the auto tune sessions are finished?

I'll try to put this as simply as I can...

You need to run your autotune session (s) as it relates to a dyno. Think about it....

Dyno runs hit all aspects of rpm range and throttle position (TPS). That being said, you essentially have to do the same... only you are on the street and can be difficult to achieve. From light throttle and low rpms thru full throttle high rpms and everything in between.

You can monitor your progress by watching the table populate from white (no data) to orange ( initial data stored, but not complete) to green ( data completed) each time a block is populated in orange, it needs more time in that block (rpm and TPS%). How many times? I cannot tell you... sometimes it learns quick... some times not so fast. It is best to take screenshots of the table and monitor your progress as you go. This way you get an exact rpm/TPS block(s) that you need to concetrate on to get it to complete.

The APPLY method works... BUT... each time you apply you lose the visual progression from the table... the table is wiped clean... that's what I don't like. It looks as if you are starting over, but you aren't. It uses the applied data on the existing map . Each time you apply is does this until you FINISH.... then the completed autotune is saved as a new map.

That is why I run one long ,single session...and concentrate on blocks when I need to..

I hope I didn't overwelm you....lol

Spazz, Thanks for taking the time to explain that. I understand the process much better now. still a little fuzzy about how to read the chart to know where to go with the RPM and tps% but once I get into it should be able to figure it out. So can I do a tune over a couple of days as long as I don't hit the finish, just the learn. I understand I will lose the green populated field from the first day but the data will be saved. Not sure if I explained that clearly.

The chart has rpms on left side and TPS% across the top. Match your Throttle Position% to the rpm and you are 'working' that block of the table...

I went a couple weeks with one session to be able to monitor the table as I progressed. Like I said... if you apply the tune, you lose the ability to work areas that need it since your table ( visual reference) is wiped clean even though the data have been applied

OK, I think I've got a handle on the block thing. And I can run a few sessions over a couple of days with out appling and the previous days won't be lost and that way I can keep the field of green going and see where I need to go.
Thanks Spazz, I'm sure I speak for a lot of us out here when I say yours and some of the other guys help here has been a great help to us all.
