I want to know what you all are reading. Up until now my meter would read just above 14V. Now it reads above 14V when Im moving. But it now reads 12.5V while idling. I have no trouble light or codes. And I have no problems starting .

Consider the voltage reading is based on charging factors. So at low rpm idle the reading may be less than full charging specs at higher rpm

Yeah I understand but Im just wondering why all of a sudden my meter is fluctuating. It used to stay at 14.4V whether idling or revving.

Has this started since you added your amp?

maxx442. No, it actually first started after my bike overheated during a parade. I installed the amp about a month ago. And recently I added a Lenale cooling fan just after the overheating. But I turned both stereo and fan off and the voltage still dips to battery voltage. I just got done checking out my charging system. The stator resistance and voltage checks are good. Not grounded too. I cleaned the regulator/rectifier connections and put dielectric grease. Went out for a ride afterwards and still the same. Battery charging while moving and at battery voltage while idling.I also checked my trouble codes with my PV2. No trouble codes. I don't know if there's a problem or not at this point. Bike still running and starting up good.

Just wanted to give you all an update on the problem I had recently. The problem I had was I noticed my inner fairing voltmeter was reading battery voltage while my bike was idling. But while I was riding, my bike would charge , and my voltmeter would read about 14.4V. Before this, my meter would read 14.4V all the time.
After some troubleshooting I found my
voltage regulator was "partially" faulty. I went to the dealer and bought a new voltage regulator. The voltmeter now reads 14.4v like before whether I am idling or moving.
My bike overheated during a parade on a very hot day. I kept on riding and I guess the heat damaged the regulator. The battery and stator is good and was not replaced.
Maybe my experience will help you in the future.

Thank you that is great info.....now stored away in the memory banks.........now if I could just remember where that is when I need it I'll be good :D

Glad you got it figured out.
