I ALWAYS check my scoot after HD does a service.....

The ONE TIME I don't and wouldn't ya know it.... I LOST MY HEEL SHIFTER!!!

Less than 200 miles since the service.... go figure. They had my Primary off to check things out, so this is why I should have checked it.

Got it replaced under warranty, but still had to shell out $30 for another matching shift peg....

NOTE!!!!

ALWAYS CHECK SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK!!!!

This brings up all the shifter pegs I saw along the roads while riding at Sturgis this year. I was amazed at the amount of shift levers and shifter pegs on or along the road as we rode all the rides there. At one point there was a saddle bag off someone's bike but not much left of it along with gloves and hats. After they replaced my shifter shaft and linkage had to tighten up the bolts for my shifters and pegs also.

I fortunately have never lost any bike parts along the road but I have heard plenty of stories concerning such. I'm sure it pretty much sucks.
In the day the joke was that in time it was possible to build a complete Harley with parts found along the road. Maybe some credence there

It happened to me also but it was my own dang fault for not using Blue Loctite when I installed my aftermarket rearset on my sportbike, the worst thing was I was riding with my neighbor and his (if you don't ride Harley you are nobody) friends and they gave me crap all the way there and back. Of course I pulled over when I saw a Checker Auto Parts and fixed it.....held my shifter with my shoe until I got to the parking lot but was able to ride it in the gear I was in all the way until then.....LOL!

Now I use Blue Loctite on everything.....LOL!

I must have watched at least 5 people a day lose their hats in Sturgis! And so many more just laying along the road too boot.

Happen to me in ARK heading to Hot Springs too. Went to shift in a twisty and just got Air ! Found peg and bolt 2 blocks back in the road. Put Loctite on and was on my way! Got Lucky...

I wasn't so fortunate to find it.... about an 8 mile stretch and no sign of it

Just curious Spazz; what was the HD tech taking a look at inside of your primary?

Spazz your slipping you are always mr check everything. But at least it was just a shifter lever could have been worse

Mine fell off the first week I had the bike..lucky it got lodged in the floorboard so I could save it. The bolt was still tight on the lever, just came right off the shaft

I'm never going to have that issue as my heel shifter is sitting in a box in the garage. With my bad ankle I had to get a long shifter peg and get a spacer to move the toe shifter out.

I did the same. I never use a heel shifter so could never see the point in having it.

After forcing myself to use it for a week... I wouldn't be without one.... it's just a personal preference that is a MUST for me now.

Probably a stupid reason here, but I like my heel shifter because I ride to work everyday..I have to wear decent looking shoes and the toe shifter will mess up some shoes..have even had the shifter wear through the shoestrings before. Helps keep the shine on your riding boots also. Lol.
