Wiring Question

So my son in law has a 2014 FLHX, really it was him and not me, clipped the wires going to the left hand side of the handlebar. He was putting on a clamp to hold a cell phone and put the clamp on the outside of the cable instead of inside. Of course he blew a fuse. He spliced the wires and replaced the fuse. Disconnected the battery as well. When reconnecting the battery none of the controls on the left side work. Also the security light stays lit all the time. There's no security on the bike, however. Short of bringing it in to a dealer, any ideas on what to check or do?

Might have to replace the harness going from the switch to the main harness. The HB switches don't work in the traditional sense. They send a data signal to the computer, the computer interprets the signal and does the work. Look at it like a Telephone. If one wire is broken, you don't just lose one function, you lose all communication between the HB switch and the computer.

Could have also blown the computer, but the fuse is supposed to prevent that.
