Yesterday sucked big time for me !!! we had a family get together yesterday and I rode the new bike to this gathering and I got the take me for a ride please from several cousins and my Aunt not wanting to disappoint I was like sure who wants to go first . so my 75 year old aunt is first now she is a big woman not huge but not 130 lbs eather So when she gets on the bike I tell her no leaning or sudden movement she has rode before but it has been over 20 years all was good until we get to the first stop sign
I feel her lean to the right for some reason I guess to look around me or some thing then I feel the bike starting to lean and I TRY to hold it up but the weight of her and the bike was to much and I could not hold it up and over we went at a stop sign not even moving that sucked big time I have never in all the years I have been riding dropped a bike while sitting still thankfully no one was hurt other then my pride but I did get some rode rash on the bottom front corner of my saddle bag and a few nicks at the latch by the reflector I stopped at my local HD dealer and picked up some touch-up paint $37 so I got the damage to the bike thuched up for the most part looks ok but I know the nicks are there

I found out after the fact my Aunt has mild MS and with ballence issues live and learn

Well that sucks!!! Glad you and her are ok.... a little touch up isn't bad...

This is the main reason I was thinkin about bag bars.... every now and then my bride will lean over to one side.... time and time again I tell her not too.... she is much better now than she used to be....

Sorry to hear man. Glad everyone is ok. Bag protectors are on my list as well. They should help somewhat.

I bought the rear guards for mine. Better safe than sorry I guess.

I've only dropped a bike once when stopped. It was a BMW twin with a passenger on board. A sprinkler came on suddenly pointing the wrong way and sprayed my passenger who got into evasive leaning and over we went. Nothing touched but a plastic pad under the cylinder head.

Sorry to hear. I do know what youu mean. I was parking in my driveway and stand was not perfect and collapsed....took all I had to keep it up. If someone had been on there would have been no way. Just too heavy when it tilts so far and is not moving!

I was under the impression that if you haven't dropped it at least once you dont really own it yet ?
At least that's what every person that has asked me "have you dropped it yet, if not you will" has tried to tell me

Glad everyone is ok.

yea since this happened I have started looking into rear saddle bag bars also Kuryakyn has a cool set of saddle-bag extentions for the 14 with the tri bar leds they would cover up the area on the saddle bag I had to touch up and add some bling may have to turn this negative into a positive and mod the bike some more

Anyone make black ones, saddlebag bars that is ?

Previous to my SGS I owned a Dyna Switchback. The bike was backed into (not by me) while sitting in the driveway and knocked over. It was the same color as my SGS which is Darkened Cayenne. The bag on the side that went down was seriously scratched and needed to be repainted. I took the bike to a local custom bike shop that had a great reputation for his quality work. He told me that many of Harley Davidson's 2014 colors were proprietary and not available for sale except as touch-up paint, including Darkened Cayenne. If I wanted the bag's paint repaired I would have to replace the bag ($800) or he said he would match it but not with OEM HD paint. Due to his reputation I told him to go ahead and match it, he did, I was extremely pleased with his work, it looked perfect. I lucked out. When I traded for my 2014 SGS, bag bars were one of my first purchases as an upgrade to my bike.

GAFLHXS- one of my first purchases were bag guards too. It will give you a place to grab hold of if you ever have to pick it up.

Yea Im thinking I will be getting some bag bars here fairly soon just need to decide if I want to add more chrome or go with black bars
Also thinking about adding a set of bag extentions to cover up the scuff marks instead of getting the bag repainted Kurykyn has these for the 2014 SG bags

The tri-bar lights on the extentions are running and turn

Bag bars also save legs if you ever have to lay it down. Been about 20 years since it happened to me but the bars saved my ass

Bag guards were my first add on. Save me at Myrtle Beach bike week when I cut a corner to tight and clipped a parking lot pole (little pole). I might of had too much to drink.

No I didn't go down, it wasn't even close spilling me. Just knocked over the dam pole. The right bag guard took the bump and didn't leave a mark.

Hope you didn't spill it....lol!!! lesson learned...
