Hey all, new member here. I've done extensive searching and can't quite come up with a solution to my problem. I recently bought a brand new 2014 SG and added Rinehart Slimline Duals, Rinehart 4" Slip ons, Screamin Eagle stage 1 air cleaner and a screamin eagle pro race tuner. It runs and sounds great until I give it a quick rev. It has next to none decal popping but sometimes when I rev it up while riding or in the garage it will make a loud backfire. It will also do this on occasions when accelerating hard while closing the throttle to change gears. The dealer installed everything but it just has a canned map on the programmer at this time. Will an actual dyno tune help clear this up? From my understanding when you let off the throttle the bike goes into a "closed loop" mode and shuts off basically all fuel causing the lean condition and a backfire. If anyone has any ideas about how to clear this up it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance and I've already learned a ton from this site!

Yes a good tune should fix that up. Looking at what you have done they should have tried to talk you into one before it left or after your break in period brining it back.

That is not how a closed loop system works. Hope you get it right.

I had a similar issue. New 2014 SGS dealer installed V&H true duals and slip ons, I added a Ness air cleaner/intake. I did have quite a bit of "crackling" and decal popping. Not really what I would consider a backfire though. I took it in for the 1000 mile checkup and they put it through a dyno. The dyno seems to have fixed the issue.

Still waiting to get my 1000 mile service done and then I guess I'll go ahead and have it dyno tuned. Hopefully that will solve the problems. It didn't do it when I just had the slip ons, only after they put the non-catted headpipe on and I'm sure they didn't bother adjusting the map

Zman84- Check around on Dyno shops. I did, I kinda believe the HD Dyno folks here use pre-canned maps and don't spend a lot of time "dialing it in". I had my RK done at the dealer a few years a go but this time I had it done by an independent shop with a great reputation and could definitely feel the difference. This is the first bike I've ever had with NO DECEL POPPING ever. :D

Dyno is only as good as the mechanic doing the dyno. Money better spent on a tuner from Fuel Moto. They will work with you and your logs to dial you in and there canned maps are great. Problem I have with dyno's is there a 1 shot deal unless you find someone like Mojo did.

I hav the exact same issue. I tried different size baffles from Rush Racing. The 2.5" baffles would do it more often than the 1.75" ones. The PV2 auto tune does not eliminate this either. I can live with it for now since it doesnt backfire very often. For now i just try not to blip the throttle. I am on my second map from FM. I may request a third one.

GreetSlide808- For what it's worth, I have the 2 inch baffles in my pipes.
