Which is better - LED Reflector or Projection?

Hey folks,
Looking at upgrading the '15 SGS headlight from the OEM dual halogen and adding auxiliary lights.

My low beam lighting seems quite low compared to my '10 Ultra Limited w/auxiliary halogens, so I'm thinking adding auxiliary lights should help out a lot.

These are the options I'm considering:

1) Current dual halogen and add halogen auxiliary's (cost effective option)
2) Daymaker reflector with same auxiliary's (67700189 & 68000075)
3) Daymaker projector with auxiliary's (67700243 & 68000172)

I'm a bit confused as to which lighting option type is better, Projection or Reflector?

One other question, when adding the auxiliary kit, is everything needed included or does one need any additional wiring harnesses?

Thanks in advance!

Ask 10 guys you'll get 10 opinions. I looked at these for awhile myself. We perceive light differently. I don't like the flat beam some give off. A buddy of mine doesn't see it that much. I don't believe you'll find a hard answer. Good luck to ya though.

The specs listed above are for the new version of the daymaker.

I I have all 3 daymakers with the head light being the projector model I'm Broke but very happy lol.

I can hear you about going broke! lol None of them are inexpensive!

Didn't know if one can see a noticeable difference between reflector or projection.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks, and your probably right about finding a hard answer. Might come down to visual appearance between the two for a preference.

A friend of mine has the Harley branded Reflector (Truck-lite??) headlight on his 13 SG and I sure like the looks of it in the daytime when he's behind me.....I see it just fine although he runs high-beam during the daylight hours. He also runs the Dynamic Ringz and these really show up great so much so that I passed on the passing lights for my bike....I realize they are not a replacement but from a visibility standpoint (others seeing me) I think they are a great improvement.

I'm leaning toward getting one of these as soon as the stock market stops plunging :D

Whatever you decide to go with, post a review. It may help some one else. Again, hope you find one that works.

I'll do that for sure! I'm leaning towards the Daymaker reflector type based on appearance only. I may end up like Bluebowtie and own all three, but I hope not. They are to expensive . . .

Idk I have never ridden with the reflector model. If you have a p&a catalog look at the two light output diagrams. It should show you which is better.

That's a good idea, I'll do that! It will be interesting to see if there is a spec difference.

I hear you on the market fluctuation! lol
That is a interesting idea, I'll need to look into that option. Really like the idea of not running auxiliary lights if I can be seen and see well enough. Not a big night time rider, but one never knows when you have to. Thanks

I choose the reflector based on looks...less expensive and the latest from HD. They truly light up the road over the halogens.

I'm thinking that's the way I'll go also, I like the look better. It's good to hear though it "truly lights up the road over the halogens". Thanks . . .

I have the daymaker reflector model too and it works great at night. Not quite as bright as a HID but no LED's are up to that point just yet. Much Much better than the stock halogen that came with it tho for sure. I'm not sure they chose to put the halogen one in the streetglide only and put the daymaker projector on the other touring models from the factory

+1 here too !

I opted for the Truck-lite with the Dynamic Ringz and also run on high during day light riding. I'm waiting for Kuryakyn halo trim ring, which I'm told should be available in late April 2015. I ordered mine and am just waiting for delivery.

According to my riding partners, the Ringz really make the bike stand out both day and night and the extra bright white lites from the Ringz (6000K) also give me added light for night driving, eliminating the need for the auxiliary driving lights.
