What did you do to, or on your streetglide today?

Sand, looks like you need an antenna hole plug [emoji14]

Well coming home this evening I hit a piece of asphalt that had come out of a pothole. Damn thing blended right in, being a chunk of asphalt on top of asphalt. Impact dented and cracked my front wheel and it was flat in 50 yards. Just far enough to coast it to the next parking lot. Already had it towed to the dealership but it was so late that I'll have to drop off keys in the morning to get the ball rolling. Couldn't find any other damage. Some scuffs on the rear sidewall. Hope to learn more tomorrow.

And of course truck battery is dead and now on a charger. I really gotta invest in a jumper battery!

Does your motorcycle insurance cover such damage?

Comprehensive coverage can cover it, but I want to know the cost before I make a claim. No sense making a claim if it's less than my deductible.

When you get done checking the costs I have a rim with a tire that has 30 miles on it sitting in the garage. It's your for 200 plus shipping if you need it.

Thanks but too late :( I have the dealer ordering a new oem wheel. 10-15 days. Told them go ahead and replace both tires while they have it since they've got 21k on them. Front had some meat left but back was nearly at the wear bars.

Let me know what the dealer is charging for the new front rim just curious. I have 3 more rims in the garage taking up space I was buying them and getting the miles out of the tires. Cheaper then buying a new front tire most of the time.

Wheel was about $450. Eta is 2 weeks but I'll gladly post the final cost when it's all done. It'll be skewed by my ask for new tires but could serve as a reference for someone else. The first thing I searched after calling a tow was prices but couldn't find any.

Finally got the correct shield on my '18. I tried Klockwerks, bought a Winsplitter, a Freedom Shields 8" and a Freedom Shields 7". The 7" FS is the best balance for my height. Very little buffeting at highway speeds, I can see over the shield even when I'm tired at the end of the day and slumping in my seat. Now to to try to sell the other shields!

I actually put the antenna back on I hate how my cover fits or more doesn't fit with the antenna so just take it off when I'm covering it.

sux about your wheel... but 21k out of a set of tires is pretty good from what I've read on here.

Finally got my bike back yesterday evening. Immediately stopped home to grab my candy and took her over to my childhood heighborhood to hand out candy with the old neighbors.

If you ever need to replace your front wheel, here's what I was charged
Wheel: $471
Bearings: $63
Rotor bolt (10): $32

I had both tired replaced while she was in. Total labor was $120.

Good to hear your back on the road again. No bad on the price the new wheel and what tire did you go with the stock or the elite.

Stuck with the stock rubbers this time. Maybe next change I'll give commanders a try.

Had enough of the tank badge poking my knee so today I removed them. Paint has already suffered some damage from the badges but it's nothing horrible.

Today I filled mine with gas, will put some stable in it tomorrow, hook up the battery tender and then head south to Daytona for the winter. Til I get back north I’ll be riding the Road King and the Chopper bike. Have a great winter !!

I think a tumbleweed is rolling through this thread... Or whatever the wintery version of a tumbleweed is.

Was running errands today and noticed my front cylinder heat shield was broken right in 2. When did that happen? Well took it to the dealership just to get the ball rolling and was initially told they'd have to order it. Then he said we want to look it over just to make sure there's not another problem hiding in there. THEN he says he wants to do the clutch recall while it's in (I didn't even ask... Guess I'm lucky they actually had the kit!). Well after a bit of free pizza and soda, the rep comes out and says the bike is done and they had a spare heat shield. Double luck with in-stock parts!

2018 SGS here. Picked it up Saturday from its 50,000 mile service. While there I had them add heated grips, install my front Legend inserts ( already installed the rear Legends), they found the head bearings were starting to show wear, so that was changed out. Brought it home and installed a new Commander II from tire. Took it for a 200 mile ride yesterday. The Legends are definitely worth every penny they cost.

Wasn't today but I got my tour pack and all necessary parts this week. Thanks to some frugal use of Chinese knockoffs, I was able to reduce the price from the msrp $1400 to about $950. Actual box is genuine hd through broadtracker while the mount, back rest and top rack (not installed yet) are tcmt branded knockoffs. The mount came with some horribly janky looking latches for the rear spindles so I stole the latches from my luggage rack.

Couldn't be happier. This doubles my lockable, out of sight storage space. I'll have to take a look at the service manual for shock preload now. I think it was basically +2 clicks when adding a trunk.

I don't care for the looks of my tour pack on the bike but it sure is handy on longer trips. After adding speakers to the pods it pretty much stays on all the time now just for convenience and surround sound. Just amazed at how much stuff you can haul in it and the wife won't ride on the bike without it now. Of course you have to have the ultra seat for her also.

Sadly- just looked at my bike today. Crazy weather and road conditions are keeping the miles down this winter so far.

Anyone getting out to ride?
