I am interested in changing the bars on my 08 FLHX. I recently took a 300+ miles ride and found that my shoulders were killing me the next day. Everyone I've talked to have said its because I'm reaching to far forward. I originally thought I'd go with 12" apes but I sat on a Ike that had them and I didn't like the feel. I'm only 5'4" so I thought I might be better with the reduced reach bars. I've been looking to see them on a bike but have found one yet. Does anyone here have these bars installed on your bike? Would you kind posting a pic of how much closer them are compared to how the stock bars were?

Thanks,
Beth

I installed two-inch pullback bars on my 2013 Streetglide for the same reason, but it was hurting my lower back. The two inch pullbacks use all the original cables and wiring just the handlebars change. It's made a huge difference in my comfort since installing them.

Thanks Jhny.. Do you happen to have a pic of them on installed on your bike? I bought a set but still have not seen the installed on any bike.

The parts catalog doesn't even have a pic that shows how they look or fit.

Thanks in advance, Beth

Beth,

I have a friend who is also 5'4" who installed the the Reduced Reach bars on her Street Glide. She is very happy with the results, even after the $1,500 expense for the bars, installation, cables (braided), wiring, etc.
She also had Mean City Cycles install memory foam in her seat, position her forward 2" and lower 1".

I have attached a photo of her bars after the Reduced Reach install.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Cookie. This helps give me an idea as to how they will look. My bike goes in next Saturday for a new bars and a bunch of other cool upgrades. I can wait to get it back!

Hi Cookie... Here's a few shots of my bike. I went with the reduced reach handlebars but I'm not sure I like them. I put on 50 miles on Saturday and still have pain in my wrists. Not sure if I'll keep the bars or not.

I too used to have a lot of wrist pain when I was running the stock handlebars on my bike. I tried three sets of bars before I finally tried a set of Arlen Ness Modular Bars which allow you to set the wrist angle to where is most comfortable. I did have to do a few adjustments after a couple of rides with them but I've now had them on the bike for over a year and a half and no longer have any wrist pain....even on 500-600 mile days.

They're definitely worth a look...

Good luck with your search!

I'm hoping I don't have to swap the bars multiple times. I will try them again this weekend and make my mind up soon if I'm keeping these or not. I've never had any problem with hand/wrist pain even with the stock bars so this is somewhat disappointing to me.

I'm looking for alternatives now. If I replace them, I may go with either Ergo Backs or Sweepers +2s. I just cant get over It's the difference in price between these 2 bars. Those modular bars seem pretty versatile but I'm not feeling the look.

I felt the same way about the Modular bars as well but now that I've had them on the bike for a year or so they are growing on me.

I just picked up my 2014 SGS - Moroccan Gold. I love ALMOST everything about it. My back kills when I have put on a few miles. I'm thinking my bars are too low. HD dealershp suggested a back rest. Now my bars are a stretch to reach when I use my backrest. So my question to all is: Do the reduced reach bars raise my grips any? I'm thinking a 2+2 would probably be just right. Any suggestions?

Take a look at these 2+2

I am searching for the right handlebar for my '12. Upgraded from a '05 softail a few weeks ago and these stock bars have too much wrist angle an are too low for my tastes. I looked at a couple of the harley bars but they all seem to have a ton of wrist angle built I to them. Anyone tried one of the klockwerks offerings?

Toothfairy-Have you thought about rolling bars back towards you. I have the opposite problem.. Mine are to low and close.
