I have a 2014 Street Glide Firefighter edition on order. I can do all the cosmetic upgrades. My question is; what pipes to put on? I have Rineharts on my Fat Boy. Don't know if I want to go that loud again. I want a nice deep rumble. CFR? V&H? Don't particularly want to change the air intake or do a tuner (download), just want to beef up the sound. Would appreciate some suggestions. Bike comes in 5 weeks.

Check out the new Harley Street Cannon slip-on mufflers, awesome deep tone. I have just ordered a set and will attempt to post a video in the near future.

I have the 2013 and bought the 4" Rinehart slip on's, I kept the original header pipes and i like the sound not too loud but can hear myself going down the road. I am Saving up for a pair of CFR. But i hear that if you put the CFR's as a slip on on the 103 motor you need to be re-tuned or it will cause bluing issues. I REALLY like the sound of the CFR's though.

If you are wanting a deep rumble, the only way to go in my opinion are the CFRs. I've had the opportunity to run several different slip-ons on my '10 Street Glide and am currently running the CFRs...they are by far the best sounding pipe I have ever heard. The downside to the CFRs on bikes with a stock 103" or larger motor is that you will still have to have the bike re-tuned even if the only thing you are adding is the slip-on. The reason this is the case is because the way the baffle is designed it draws more air out of the header which alters the air:fuel ratio and if this is not corrected you run a very high risk of the pipes discoloring which is a tuning issue that is not covered under warranty.

Hope this helps but if you have any other questions about these slip-ons shoot me a private message or email at lindsey@ironacesspeedshop.com.

I would consider a stage one air cleaner and an V&H fuel pak with slip ons. I think you would be pleased.

Subscribed. I just bought a 14 flhx and i also want the cfr slip ons. Will the xied work to keep the 103 happy?

We've had one or two customers with CFRs go with the Xied but I haven't received any feedback from them as to whether they like the combination so unfortunately I can't really speak to that topic intelligently. My thought is that as long as the air:fuel ratio is put back to where it needs to be it should be just fine.

If you find anymore info about it let us know.

Talked to a dealership the other day. They said although the CFR's sound good, long term use may cause top end damage. I wonder if they are just pushing the brands they sell; V&H & or Screaming Eagle?

This is the first time I have ever heard this claim as well and we've been selling CFRs since May 2010. I strongly urge you to reach out to Cary Faas (owner of CFR) to discuss this if you want clarification on this claim. CFRs number is (623) 374-3759 and Cary is always glad to talk to customers regarding performance questions/concerns with is slip-ons. I can guarantee that he will be quite surprised to hear a dealership make this claim and will quickly debunk the rumor.

I used slip-ons from american custom. love the deep growl, and the price is easy on the wallet. In my opinoin nothing youbuy will sound right till you 86 the cat. jmho. Also with american customs you can choose different baffles depending on the noise level you're looking for. I'm running none, and my wife loves it.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I'm enjoying this site. I think I'm going with either the CFR's or the V&H Monster rounds. The cfr info I had got wasn't true. I am going to leave the rest stock,,, for now. Bike is still 3 weeks out, I will post what I do and how they sound.

I just bought my first Street Glide (2014) in October and am wanting to put on slip-ons. I want to be heard!!! Suggestions? As I have researched, not all have audio files for me to hear what they sound like! errrrggghhh

Thanks,

There is a topic on the forum, should be a good start for answers.

One thing I've noticed over the years is people with really loud pipes tend to accelerate slowly when riding. I believe they use the throttle more like a volume control and just twist up a certain noise level. I know when I've tried pipes that were too loud for me, I would definitely use less throttle to avoid attracting too much attention - especially from police. Hmmm......maybe loud pipes are safer if they encourage less generous use of the throttle.
