Has anyone figured out how to add a 3.5mm aux audio output headphone jack to BOOM BOX

I am kind of confused.....I bought 3.5mm cable and when I spliced it it only has 2 color wires, Black & Red and silver fray wire....I have asked Radio Shack & Best Buy and they said there isn't any cable with 3 wires. Red=R & Black=L and can use fray wire as ground.....am I missing something?

I found out Best Buy guy was wrong....Black=ground....not left.....he is so full of never mind.....

I connected Red to Pink/Green and Black to ground and it plays through both sides so probably mono....dang!!!

After checking on the internet Best Buy guy may be correct as Red=Right & Black=Left and the other none insulated wired is ground. However when I tried sound quality came out terrible, no bass at all and very static as I am listening to radio as bad reception.

I will wait for weeT or rrwz7c to reply on this.

First I want to thank weeT for lending a hand on this.......he stuck with me throughout and direct me to try different things, after I went through everything I have done and what he'd asked me I found the problam. It was the 3.5mm extension cable female port which was not seating headset male input. Which makes the sound totally odd, I moved the male end of my headset and it started to play normal. I tried another headset and it was the same so I replaced it and now it works as it should. I am extremely please with the outcome and now I can truly enjoy the sound quality through my headset.

If any of you are thinking about doing it I recommend it highly, it's not hard at all. It was unfortunate that I got a bad cable but wiring it is extremely easy after I figured out which wires. Reach out to weeT if you ever run into any issue, he is one hell of a guy.

Thanks to weeT & rrwz7c for sharing this with us :)

Damn it. I was trying to pair my Aftershokz wireless headphones to the OEM system with no luck. After reading this thread I now know why. Oh well, guess I will just listen to the sweet music of my Rhinehart exhaust while I ride.
