Has anyone here installed the Baker reverse gear setup ? Was talking with the Baker reps at Sturgis and am seriously considering it. For anyone that may have, did you DIY or have someone install it ?

Have never seen one in use but have been in a couple of places where it would have been handy.

I thought about it also after I was in a bind at Oatman, AZ during bike fest. I parked my bike in a parking spot that had downward slant and couldn't get the bike out (I couldn't backup to park as things were crazy busy on that tiny main street, only parking spot left and had to just ride it in), someone in a car was nice enough to jump out and help me push my bike out of the spot. If I had Baker reverse gear I would be smiling...I think that'll be my next upgrade.... :)

Here is another company that makes reverse system for Harley touring, interesting concept....

I have the Baker ordered, it was about the same price, a Sturgis special pricing, I have been having trouble since my heart problem last year, and really had some trouble in the Black Hills, so I ordered it. Just waiting till the end of the riding season to install. A local shop here said he could do a Motor Trike reverse for about $1400, but I did not like the lever operation of it.

Yes I am, I was off about 4.5 months this past year for a quadruple bypass, then the dealer I worked for got sold, the new owner called and asked me to come work for him for awhile, so I'm back, was really enjoying the off time.

Baker rep said this takes about 8 hours to do, will need a few special tools, a local indy shop said he would lend me the tools.

Wow, 8 hours x $100 labor an hour.....yikes.....never mind...… :-(

That's good to hear your still working doing what you want. Sorry to hear about the heart condition but as we get older things creep up on us like that. Been going through some stuff at work also so haven't been able to get as much time off as I normally do to ride.

Someone with more experience with trannies can probably do it much faster, the primary has to come off, pipes, starter, then you take the tranny apart, remove 5th gear, and reassembly, then wire the switch.

I have the Baker Rev. in my 2014 SGS. Fantastic!! Pricey $$ (don't ask) I had my Sarasota Harley dealer install so I would have a warranty. It is great. Just lift the switch when the bike is in neutral and put in 1st gear which now gives you reverse. To put back in first, pull clutch, put in neutral and back down to first. I amaze my fellow bikers when I pull into a spot vs backing in.

Thanks for the reply, was hoping someone would say it wasn't a waste of money, I've used it (reverse) on alot of Goldwings I work on, and every time I think, damn I wish I had this sometimes, and anymore, it appears sometimes is more often then not.
I felt that this option was about 1/10 the cost of going to a Tri Glide, which I really do not want to do yet.
