I did the stage 2 upgrade with the fairing speakers and amp, boom audio. Anyone have issues with speakers blowing. I have it loud enough to hear but not at "11" . I had to replace right speaker in july(blown) and now replaced the right for same reason. If they go again I think its rockford fosgate or any other reccomdations you all have. Thx

I had the upgraded boom speakers paired with a RF amp, blew the speakers twice. After the third warrantied pair, threw em in the closet, and got me a pair of infinity kappas...

Keep the AVL no higher than 2. I blew out 3 speakers before the Harley tech gave me this advice. It has been months, no more blowouts! don't notice a difference in the sound level and I keep it cranked all the way up on the highway.

What is the "AVL"

What is the "AVL"

Auto volume level, Harley calls it Speed Volume, sorry. Hit menu, audio, fade/speed volume. Adjust speed volume for no more than two dots. Since I changed mine I have not blown any more speakers.

The speed volume (AVL) auto adjusts volume based on speed, it compensates for engine, wind and other ambient noise.

I am considering upgrading my speakers for better sound (although Boom II sounds ok) looked at the Kappa's I'd be concerned as they are only 75 watts each and the Boom II is 150 watts per channel, 300 total front 300 in the rear. I also have the Boom II amp for and Harley 5X7 deck lid speakers which I want to increase to 6X9. Whatever I decide they will need to be marine grade so as to prevent water damage, not seeing where the infinity's are?

Thanks! That's what I thought, I have mine off.

My kappas are pushed by a 300w amp. The speakers are rated up to 225W per channel

Power Handling: 75Wrms, 225W peak Sensitivity (@ 2.83V): 95dB
Frequency Response: 45Hz - 25kHz
Voice Coil Diameter: 1-3/16 in. (30mm)
Impedance: 2.5 ohms
What's in the box? 2 x Speakers 2 x Grilles 2 x Plastic multi-hole adapter rings 2 x Foam gaskets 16 x screws 8 x speed clips 2 x Infinity logo badges 2 x brand stickers Owner's manual

I added a Cerwin Vega B 52 amp an a pair of infinity Kappa speakers an the line leveler since HD has a weird bass bias on the '14 up touring bikes to make it sound richer than it really is. It cranks pretty good people are impressed when I tell them it was about $400 to do it all. I toasted the first amp by having the auto volume turned on so turn that crap off. If you go with the boom amp I believe it's a 2 ohm amp so you're limited to 2 ohm speakers. My kappa's are 2 ohm but I think the redesigned ones aren't.

Do these Infinity Kappa 62IX require any adapter ring or housing modifications in a 2014+?

I put the newer version infinity kappas in my 14, after my old ones crapped out and no mod was made. However, when I initially installed the kappas, I had to dremmel out the plastic housing cases the speakers sit in. The magnets were just too big, and I couldn’t put the cases back together...
