I will be putting 14" bars in my SGS this weekend. I ordered new lines but plan on doing the wiring my self. If any of you have done this to the 2014 SG any advice you have will be appreciated. Thanks brothers and ride long & safe

Several YouTube videos are out there.... and I have 'heard' if you disconnect the clutch line, you will require a trip to the dealer... BE WARNED....

Also... 12" is max you can go (again, from what I have researched ) with stock lines... a slight re-route is necessary, but thats it. On 14's... go with NAMZ extensions for around $30. Stagger your splices, it will make pulling thru the bars much easier.

OH!!! Use a long piece of weed eater nylon to fish thru the bars, makes life easier.

... research brings a wealth of knowledge to the table...

Whats the deal with the clutch? I am going with 14" so I know everything has to be extended, I can do the wiring and know that its right, that's my field of work. The mechanical work is the part the I am researching so I don't encounter unexpected "opportunities for solution" lol

I am not sure to be honest... just a few threads I have read about the clutch being a bear and not working after the install... noone ever posted why though.

Follow the service manual instructions for removing and replacing the ignition switch. I turned my forks with the switch out and they locked to the left. I stuck the switch shaft in and messed around to unlock it. Man, it was like some kinda Rubik's cube gettin' it back together after that. All I was doing was rotating the stock bars up a bit.

You can go up to 12" without swapping those out. That abs set up is a bear.

Maybe in the states you can go without swapping out, not sure how though
got 12" yaffe's on my '14 and had to wait for cables...because the stock ones won't work...

The ABS is a bitch too...

Note for the clutch, and depending on the bars, you may have to grind yourself a flat spot on the outer portion of the bars to make it fit.
Seems ok for the master, but clutch had to be ground down, which if you're using black, will damage the paint, and you will have to take them off again and repaint...
Just sayin'...

Hmmmm I guess this is another example of YMMV. I just put Yaffe 12" MBB on my 14 SGS and stock cables fit just fine. The NAMZ extensions rock too btw!

Yes pics please and some close ups of how they fit the fairing and thx for the info

here are a couple more... I am 5'10" and this is the perfect spot for me. I can also grab some pics of the actual bar measurements if folks need them.

Mirrors are spot on. It's a little different looking under my arm but there is zero obstruction. This really is the best mod I have ever done. Completely changes everything about the ride for the better for me. Highly recommend it!
