Trying to figure out what is the advantage of the stainless steel header over the standard steel?

Ceramic coated standard is even cheaper than the non ceramic stainless steel.

Stainless is more expensive. . Usually brushed or polished, but not coated. Chrome or black coated mild steel pipe protect the steel... stainless doesn't require the protection and gives you the raw look

So if you are using the factory chrome covers then their isn't really a reason to pay extra for stainless?

Not really... even V/H site shows raw stainlesss with no covers... I dont believe they come with them... I could be wrong though

My HD Sales guy has Stainless w/o chrome covers on his RG-CVO. They have turned an Amber color that actually looks good with his Green/Champagne bike. I have Ceramic (in/out) that really hold down the heat. Choice is yours but there is a cost associated with Stainless so you have to weigh if its worth it or not for you.

I thought maybe there was some performance difference or something. I think the ceramic will be more important for my uses. Thank you.

Not really.... in the header portion... maybe in the muffler section. .. unless the down tubes are a larger diameter for higher output

Here are a couple of pics with the stainless pipes on my friends bike. Not sure you can tell just how amber they've turned from these.Notice the extra bung ports too.

I have a stock seat (My Avatar) The seat on the bike with the stainless pipes is a stock 2012 CVO RG seat. They are in the 2014 parts book page 305 E

Yeah-I liked the way it looked but it wasn't as comfortable to me as the stock seat.
