I recently purchased a 2009 street glide with 20 K miles, excellent condition. I had the 20 K maintenance done several weeks ago by Harley Davidson dealer. I have noticed that when approaching a stop and shifting into first gear, the neutral lamp is faintly lit and flickers (not quite as solid bright as when in neutral gear) Sometimes if I open the clutch and tap the shift arm the light will go out but not always. Also, is it normal for the neutral light to come on for a split second as you are shifting in between gears, such as from 4th to 5th gear or when shifting down. The light is faint and only on for a split second as you move into the next gear.

The neutral switch screws into the top of the transmission check the wiring there first.

Sometimes while washing/cleaning the bikes these wires get wet or pop off.

Funny you should mention that; I didn't have this problem until I washed and polished the bike a few days ago. I'll check out the housing............thanks Gunner

It's not really unusual to see the neutral light flicker when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I notice it at night sometimes. You are crossing neutral so I've never worried about that
