I want my new 2014 Street Glide to sound like a Harley and not a sewing machine. What is the best new pipes to truly duel and the best mufflers to give me that awesome Harley rumble? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Everyone is going to have their own answer to this.
However, I didn't buy any pipes, instead I just cut out the baffles and pulled out the fiberglass in the stock pipes. Sounds pretty good to me, and it didn't cost me a thing.
Tools list:
Dremel
Pliers for bending cones so they fit coming out
Long stick to loosen fiberglass inside mufflers
BBQ paint to clean up the look afterward

I didn't cut out the cat, so it's not really too terribly loud. But you will definitely be heard. Night and day difference compared to stock. Nice rumble at idle, decent bark when you open it up a bit.I like the sound and price of your idea! Sounds like a bargain, though your and my time also has value.
But my question is, did you have to have the bike retuned? I would think any modification that reduces restriction in any way should effect output? How loud is the bike now compared to stock? Is it "manageable" or obnoxious?
