Guys..
Wanted to start a thread and get some options on where I should take my 103 engine next year. I really want the 120r installed for two reasons(warranty&resale). But I have been hearing you can receive better performance and even more hp from heads and big bore kit. I have been looking at cost of both and if I sell my stock engine, the price of the two options would be in the same ball park.again I have heard you can't get much more out of the 120r? Not looking to make a track bike, love touring to much!!! Just wanna woop some a#€ on the back streets!!! Any direction or advice would be sweet

Charcoal pearl,4"jackpot,decat head pipe,tuner,21" Costal moto rim, chopped tour pak,Rockford amp and speaker upgrade. SE stage 1.

I have a buddy with a 120R in his bike. Last trip he took it lost all of its compression. It's now back at the dealer waiting to be fixed under warranty. And I have another buddy who put a stage 4 in his 103. He just finish putting it back to stock as the dealer could not get the thing to stop pinging. So what ever you do good luck. I only plan on going to a stage 2 with my 103 when I get mine back. To me it's got enough speed and torque to keep up with the jones. And if they wanna race I'll let them win every time. I enjoy my travels to much.

I could be wrong, but when I checked into it they won't warranty a 120r in your bike. I have the stage 4 on mine and due to some issues I am on my fourth engine rebuild, including a new engine from HD. I already lost the engine warranty on mine except a case by case basis. I only have 6200 miles on mine. I would check with your dealer as well first.

The 120r is junk...... Building is always fun as long as your trust your engine builder... In my 07 Street Glide I had it built to a 107 and it ran well dynoed 112 hp 115 torque...

I just replaced the 07 with a 2014 and the first thing I did was replaced the motor with a crate 124" from S&S...... Go watch the S&S you tube videos and I'm sure you will understand why I made that decision....

Use your cases and turn your bike into a low compression S&S 124 with 585 cams. 10.25 to 1 compression great for touring and reliable and will give best of both worlds. 120r is not a direction I would suggest going the 266e is a high rever 3000+ rpm. And the motors aren't making the numbers. Have 2 of them 2011 and 2013 bikes.

General rule of thumb is when the HP numbers exceed the cubic inches of the engine reliability becomes an issue. A 103 inch engine with cam upgrade, tuned exhaust, and a bit of head work can produce around 100 HP with a good tune.
I personally think a matching numbers bike will have better resale than a big engine stuffed into a bike. Whenever I see mismatched numbers I question if the bike was a builder. Also with mismatched numbers there could be title and insurance inequities depending on state. I'd stay with a modified stock engine and if its for touring I'd look at torque numbers and forget about the relevance of hp
