2014 SGS Dual Halogen Headlight or Daymakers

UPDATE: Mojoman bought the farm (Daymaker) ! ! ! !

Alright you guys, you convinced me to bite the bullet and get the big Kahuna headlight! I told my parts guy today the Kutter HD was selling it (MSRP $525) on line for $419.95 w/ free shipping and no sales tax. He said he could match the price so he sold me the Daymaker and the connect harness for $440 + tax. Since I spent over $300, HD has a promotion going on for a bucket w/handle stuffed full of cleaning, wax, microfiber cloths etc. they give this month which made it worth not having to order online for. I'll wait till next week to put it in when the weather . . . .yep you guessed it! Turns cold again. . . . .

and so it goes . . . . . .

AWESOME MOJO!!! You will NOT be disappointed! It's only about and 30 minute job tops.. the hardest part is getting the gray clip off the harness connector... no joke. I took the gray clip off the holder AFTER I used a flat blade screw driver to slide the connector off the clip. You can see the gray clip about 1/2" to the right of my finger in the pic above. Slide the gray clip onto the new harness connector, plug it in and push the gray clip back into it's hole.. done.

FYI... I got the cleaning kit yesterday when I bought my reduced reach seat... lol!

Thx Spazz-
So you can do the change without removing the fairing cover?
I'm going to try and line up a trip to Reno in mid-May and rent a bike at Chesters HD. Can only stay a couple of days, I might ride over to Nevada City and see a friend. I used to own a house there. I'll give you a heads up if I can arrange it.

Mojo...

1. Remove the bottom bolt on the trim ring and rotate it clockwise about 1".. clip from top will clear tab and remove it.

2. Remove 3 screws from light retaining ring.. headlight is out. unplug it... swap harness install Daymaker.

3. Re-install the retaining ring.... then the trim ring ( start with clip at 1 o'clock and rotate CCW )... done....

Its that easy.

Man... if you get to Reno... you better look me up. Try coming before 23-25 May... I'll be at Runnamucca for the rally. Nevada City is a great run from Reno thru the mountains!!! I did it a lot last year.

That looks sweet. Following the thread. I put the Dynamics halo's in and they are brighter than the headlight! So question I have is what is the difference between daymaker led and the reflective one HD has in the parts catalog? Besides $100? :)

Not as bright from what I was told... halos match well with HID's

MPGSG- Spazz's Daymaker directions were perfect. It only took me about 12 minutes to make the switch. Five of them were that pesky little gray clip on the harness you have to replace.
Good luck selling the seat. Fortunately for me the stock seat works well for my '5"8 frame.

I love this forum, so many great people to talk to and learn from!

Anyone have any thoughts/comments/experiences on the HD Daymaker Projector LED ($529) vs. the HD Daymaker Reflector LED ($399)? I understand the Reflector is newer technology and actually works better than the Projector LED. Comments? Please!
