2016 SGS Head Pipe Cat Removal

I have a 2016 SGS and I'm preparing to remove the CAT in the head pipe (cut it out and re-weld the pipe) and add a high flow intake. Can anyone tell me if the head pipe is Stainless? Looks like the connectors on each side of the CAT location is stainless. Need the welder set up correctly before tear down to minimize down time. Already have the new breather and FP3.

The stock pipes are not stainless,just regular steel.ive done a couple sets with no special welding.

hey drafter
one quick way to check and be sure I to use a magnet it will not stick to stainless
if you mess them up give me a shout I have a set of take offs from a 2016 with about a 1000 miles on them

replaced mine with the ones from fuel moto

Thanks......should have thought of that. 300 series can be mildly magnetic but quite a difference between that and high carbon steel
