Hopefully someone here can help with my issue. 2016 Street Glide Special w/ ABS. Had an electrical fire back in July and bike has been at the local dealer ever since because the main wire harness is on backorder. Every few weeks I check in and it gets delayed a few weeks every time. I have been searching high and low all over the Internet for even a used one and I have found several. But here's the thing, the part # they gave me is 69201317A and I have only found ones domestically in the US with part number 69201317 with no A at the end. I can only find ones with the A at the end overseas. The service manager at the dealer said that it usually indicates there was an update at some point but he didn't know what had been updated so he would have to try to research it to see if it would still be compatible. Does anyone here know what the difference would be and whether or not the part number with no A at the end would still be compatible?

Part number 69201317 originally came on your bike, 69201317A it is it's direct replacement. If you can only locate the original part, why wouldn't you use it? Unless you believe that it was the cause of the fire.

Updated parts are annexed by a letter designation at the end of their number. Updated parts could be that a change in vendor, wire colors, design of connectors, changes in its design, a whole list of things. It would be truly be a guess as to what had changed.

I didn't know if there was a difference between the two parts. Neither does the dealership, although I'm not at all surprised. Part of the harness is fried so it needs to be replaced but it's impossible to find the part with the A at the end. Dealership basically said the same thing that the one with the A at the end usually means it was updated but they don't know what had been updated.
