Since day one my Favorites Button has never worked properly. I am able to set it up as per the instruction manual, then after a week or so it no longer functions as advertised. The only cure is to perform a PreCal reset and reprogram everything all over again since the reset deletes all user (my) preferences. Then after a week or so, the Favorites function no longer works, rinse and repeat...
[The good part is: I’ve done this so many times I can reprogram all my user preferences and reconnect my phone in about 2 minutes.]
This is a known issue from year’s past yet there are very few articles out there via Google to be found. I suspect most riders don’t even use the Favorites functions because they’re not really all that important. However, I want every part of my $2k Boom system to work as advertised.
So yesterday while riding around the county, I noticed that my HD dealer wasn’t very busy so I decided to go get this problem logged in and documented.
The tech (who owns a gorgeous 2016 Roadglide Special) was pretty much clueless about the Boom Favorites functionality, but I went through it with him and he was up to speed in no time. He said he never used it on his Boom. I had already figured that out
Moving along. So he pulled out the manual and did the cursory troubleshooting: pull the 50A fuse; rebooted all computer systems; then reflash latest Boom firmware; but nothing cured the problem.
So the next step was a series of phonecons with the HD mothership wherein we finally/actually got to talk to an engineer. He told my tech that HD is aware of this issue and is working on a firmware upgrade to hopefully fix this and a few other issues. Maybe being released by end of July?
