Was sent a video of us at a working car fire this summer. A young kid bought a used SUV and thought he could install a booming stereo system. This is his end result. A neat perspective especially since I very seldom get to see it from this angle. Hope you enjoy.

Wow. That's a lot of smoke from one vehicle.
Thanks for your service.

Nice just amazing how much heat and smoke car fires put off. Lots of different material going up in flames

At the end when you can hear the partner saw start, you can see the sparks from the magnesium reacting with the water. Chevy was famous for putting a magnesium bar under the dash left to right for strength. Takes a whole lot of water to put it out once its going.

Awesome job...what was that little "explosion" at 1:32? Another airbag?

My gf's car caught on fire while she was driving it, she pulled over as smoke was coming from the dash and within seconds the car was totally engulfed. By the time Rescue arrived, there wasn't much to put out. It was a VW Cabriolet...

Right at the beginning is when the gas struts for the back window let go, then quickly followed by a tire and then as you note, was the passenger side airbag. They do burn quickly and violently.

This is one of the struts, it hit the rig with enough force to gouge the aluminum side. IMG_20151016_125808553.jpgIMG_20151016_125832136.jpg

Thank you and you are welcome. It really is the greatest job in the world with your pants on or if your maturity level peaked in high school!

That same car of hers had some real electrical issues....a month or so before, she complained of smelling smoke. I was squatting down on the drivers side looking under the dash when the drivers side airbag let go, hitting me in the side of my head....my ears rang for days after that.....we took it to the dealer, who replaced the side airbag and couldn't find anything wrong with the electrical system. After the fire, the investigator said he believes it was the passenger window electric motor that shorted, which makes sense as my gf had just operated that window before smelling electrical smoke....

I wonder if that is an ongoing issue?
