air shock question

I have an 07 SG and on the dash it says AIR so i thought that was how many lb's of air was in the system it seemed high today was pretty stiff so i let some air out.Didnt seem to show on the gauge.Then i looked closer it says F for temp is this just an air temp gauge? how do you know how many lb's of air is in the system use a tire gaugae? I cant believe they put a thermometer on the bike who the hells cares how hot it is outside....i want to know how many lbs air i am running so i can know how much i need to add or let out for dbl riding...

It's outside temp.
And you need to buy a low pressure gauge . I bought the pump with gauge from harley for $40. But I'm sure there are cheaper out there..

Again what a waste ,a temp gauge that not even a engine temp gauge what a waste of space WTF Harley?Put useable gauges in not cosmetic ****...Yha i have a low preasure pump and gauge how many lbs do other run? I am 185lbs i got 6lbs in it now feels pretty good..

not sure when they up'ed the shocks. I know my '06 cant handle as much psi as the '12 model. I think the earlier ones maxed at 40psi and the later ones max at 50 or 60 psi.
Anyhow, here is a breakdown from my book.
Solo Rider up to 160lbs (average), 0-5 psi
Solo Rider 160-200 lbs - 0-10 psi
Average rider with passenger < 150lbs - 20-30 psi
Average rider with passenger > 150lbs - 25-35 psi

Thanks Jeb I am running 10psi now feels ok ,I am really thinking about a set of legend air shocks.They have more travel and from what i have been reading are a huge improvement over stock ride.I have some nice new progressives on the shelf here wonder if i should try em out or just bite the bullet and order the legends...I just installed a new metzler 888ultra mile'ers so i will rough it out this season but next i will be using the legends i think..Cheers all !!! can you hear my rokker xt's? cause all my nieghbours can ??? lol!!!
