I'm planning to upgrade my speakers soon. I see that Soundz Customz seems to be one of the best. However, I'm all the way down in SoCal. I was thinking of going with the Rockford Phosgates, anybody have any issues with them?

The Punch series Fosgate seems to have overheating issues, per reading in the forums. I have the Power series in the front fairing of my Street Glide, it jams out with no overheating. If you do not buy the Power Series Rockford Fosgate, I'd suggest going with the trusty Arc Audio, which seems to be the forum favorite here.

For speakers, you really do get what you pay for. While I have not heard the forum favorite high end Focal, I do have the Power Series 6.5" in the front on my bike. They are loud and clear, with zero distortion. However, they do not respond as hard in the midbass area as I would like and the tweeters are very BRIGHT! I prefer a soft dome tweeter for a bit smoother, softer response. In the near future, I may upgrade them to Focal or a high end marine offering from JL Audio.

Here is the beginning of my Harley stereo build thread, in case you want to see what Fosgate currently offers.

I've done several different builds on my bike. Had the RF punch amp before, stay away from that one, currently have a couple of power series amp which are great amps. I've also had the Arc XDI and Moto amp both of which are great. As far as speakers go I've had Polk and there ok, Focal KRC's rock but cost$$$, current using Digital Designs Vo 6.5 and their B3 horns and sound is great!

I have Rockford Fosgate amp with Alpine speakers, and I am in AZ.....no issues.

My PBR300X2 just crapped out after three years. I know the PBR300X4 has heating issues. I switched to a Cerwin Vega B52 and the sound quality blows the PBR away. I've heard good things about the TM series, but they are a lot more expensive. If you are considering high end I would go Arc Moto 4 ,Diamond Audio or Bike Tronics.

I just purchased 2 pair of Focal 165KRC's, color matched lower fairings (OEM Harley), and 6.5" speaker pods from Hogtunez for my Street Glide. At first, I will install only the upper fairing speakers to compare them to the current Rockford Power Series speakers already installed. That way, I can give a fair and accurate review of the difference.

While I haven't been 100% satisfied with the Rockford Power Series speakers that comes in the Fostgate Harley kit, I have been overly joyed with the performance of the Power Series Marine TM400x4AD amplifier, the quality, and high end engineering that went into it and the mounting kit. If I had to buy an amplifier again, I'd buy this one again.
