Our Key Note for the first day was Keni Thomas. Keni is the US Army Ranger Veteren who's story is well-known by all from the the movie based on it.... BLACK HAWK DOWN.

His leadership presentation had a huge impact on the audience.... telling the story of that day when his team saw the BLack Hawk fall from the sky, and the leadership tools that helped....using many military traits and tactics as illustrations to today's workplace when it comes to teamwork and safety.

I had a chance to talk to him and it was an honor and privilege to shake his hand.

Nice always helps to have a good speaker to get you motivated. Had a guy a couple years ago for a safety summit and he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam. Name was Charlie something and his story was simply amazing. He was in the same camp with John McCain his last name will come to me this afternoon sometime.

I remember being on ship in the Marine Corps when this happened and then the Captain said we were on our way to Somalia to save the Army. We were all trying to figure out where the hell Somalia was? That is exactly where it was...

I was on the USS Tarawa in Oct 92 and went to Somalia before this happened. We secured the irrigation pumps the rebels took over and gave the water back to the locals.

Good times brother! I was embarked on the USS Denver at the time with the 1st BN 9th Marines and we were on our way to Singapore when we got the call. In Somalia from Oct 93 to Feb 2, 1994. Hit some great libo ports though, went to Mombassa Kenya and the Seychelle Islands. Most of my time was in the Old Port (34 days) and some running around the countryside a little.

Once you serve you never ever forget places, dates, registration numbers and the very best in your fellow comrades!

Very impressive Spazz.
I spent 30 days at El Toro Marine Base working 12 on 12 off loading helos, hummers and every possible item supply wise that was needed for that conflict on C-5's, KC-10's, and KC-135's never knowing obviously how that was going to turn out.
Nice to hear other people on here that have a story to tell regarding that.
