Audio on Accessory Run Time

How long can I run the Raido/USB on accessory before I should worry about not having enough battery to start the bike? I realize this could be directly related to the amplifer, so let's start with the factory system.

The factory formula for above question is ....,
Battery age x ambient temperature divided by altitude in feet times the square root of average humidity compulsed and interjected with moon phase x ..333896. This varies by latitude and longitude. Consult your local WeatherBug forecast for More concise information

I am going with,
a couple (5 to 10) minutes before it turns off???

Thanks for the reply blacklabbeer, but I think I will go with BluesBelly for his simpler explanation.......haha

I don't think it turns itself off after a set period of time. I think what he's asking is how long he can run the stereo before the battery drains out.

That being said, I would say maybe an hour at best. I probably wouldn't run it for longer than a half hour without starting up the engine for a bit.

Once I left an old car of mine run for about two hours on ACC and needed a jump to get it going again. Battery was nearly brand new at the time. Bike batteries aren't exactly as powerful as those made for cars.

I ran mine for half hour the other day ( it is brand new and stock). Then I cranked the bike and let it run a bit. No lag in the starting. The older the battery the less time I would go before cranking. If you have an amp it will also drain faster.

My Granddaddy used to say: "Boy when ya buy a car or truck, put a five gallon can of gas in the back. Drive it 'til ya run outta gas. Then you will know what the gas gauge really means, and ya got gas in the can to get home with."

Maybe I will sit in the yard with the Street Glide blasting tunes, and test restarts every thirty minutes until she won't start. Maybe there is a government grant I can get to pay me big bucks for this important research. Otherwise, donations are accepted.

Stayed tuned.

Bones,
Maybe we are related. My Grandad used to say "if you fall and break your leg don't come running to me".

According to the manual after 45 minutes it will shut off automatically if I remember right. Have never tested this but I think ou should be good unless the battery is about done.

My grandma said that to me a lot when I was young. My dad always said you want me to give you something to cry about. LOL

TomA- That sounds about right. I had mine shut off once in the driveway while I was detailing.
