Bat Wing Fairing Speaker Upgrade

Hello all,
I'm looking to change out the Batwing fairing stock speakers in my '17 to 6.5" 's. The trained monkeys at numerous HD parts departments can only seem to want to sell me on a $900 Rockford Fosgate system when all I've been looking for is a $150 - $200 speaker replacement option.

I heard the Boom Audio Stage 1 demo at the HD dealer and I'm not really impressed with the sound for the price. I found some super nice JBL 6.5 speakers that sound awesome even without the need of an amp.

My question is does anyone know if the 17 SGS requires any sort of speaker adapter brackets to go from the stock speakers to the 6.5's or is the fairing already built for that ?

If anyone has other speaker recommendations I'd be glad to hear about them.

I think the 17 models you can mount a speaker on the outside of the pod. I have 17 speaker pod's on my 14 and that's how they work. You may have to get different speaker grills. Check out Soundz bagger audio they have a good speaker for right around your price range now.

The best bang for the buck if that's all you want to do is the Ininity Cappa 62.11i 6.5"

HD stock speakers are 2 ohm... therefore a 2 ohm speaker needs to be used unless you amp it.. then match speakers across the board to same ohm rating.

All 14 and up touring bikes take a 6.5" speaker. 17 and up wont need a pod mod for magnet clearance as the 16 and down do.

I am running 6.5” Kickers in my batwing fairing on an ‘18 SGS. Running the same in my lower fronts. I have no complaints. Didn’t want to go with the standard Fosgate setup.
