So I have noticed that the black plastic on the borders of the boom box are no longer black. More of a faded gray look that now contrasts against the black inner fairing on my '14 SGS. It is getting really noticeable. Any ideas on how to renew the plastic and make it look better or is replacing the boom box the only way to fix it.

No issues with mine however the bike is garaged.

I try to keep the cover on mine as much as possible and garage it during the winter. This is the 3rd summer so I am not expecting the bike to look 100% perfect, just 99%. LOL One of the exhaust bolts is rusted. Gotta replace it so the bike will look better.

I googled for plastic blackener. There appear to be some products out there that might help.

Don't laugh. I had my best luck restoring black trim that had weathered gray using peanut butter.

2 years ago my black trim on my ST1300 had gone gray. Tried product specific restorers with temporary results. Started googling and found a thread "detailers secrets". Don't know how long it last but Hellbender Harley commented on how clean my 2003 looked when I traded it in. ( smelled good to).

haha wow, been doing it bas ackwards.. Next I guess you're going to tell me I've loaded the damn dishwasher wrong all these years....... wait... I already hear that.

Since my bikes been in the shop lately, getting engine mods, painting and such, I get to noticing things I usually don't notice. Like how the chrome needs some more polishing, or the forks are looking kinda crummy and then spending time polishing this or that. So I noticed the bezel on the radio starting to look a little 'weathered', even though my bike stays in the garage when I'm not on it. I remembered this thread and someone mentioning peanut butter...I couldn't remember if it was the smooth or super chunky style. I guess it doesn't really matter. Rather than take a trip to the auto parts store and risk another scolding from my wife on spending more money "on that damn bike", I'd try the peanut butter trick. She couldn't complain too much because we had two unopened jars bought at Costco recently. Of course, Pete, the wonder dog loves peanut butter and followed me to the garage. As I was spreading the goo on the bezel Pete kept jumping up and trying to lick the peanut butter off. I don't think the peanut butter worked but Pete sure had fun....
