BT Profile on BoomBox

I am pretty frustrated with the BoomBox. I have a Sena SMH10R on my helmet. On my other bike I go through my Garmin Zumo 590 via bluetooth to my Sena. Then I connect my Sena BT to my iPhone. Finally, I USB my phone to the Zumo for data transfer. Works incredibly well. I wish I could control my music using the Harley display like I do on my Zumo. I think the key difference is the Zumo has two BT recievers and can have multiple profiles. I don't think the BoomBox can do this.

I sure wish HD would have done more homework on this.

At this point, my best option I think is to get a better sounding amp/speakers so I can hear the music clearly while wearing my helmet with ear plugs. It's still annoying that I cannot see if anyone calls or texts on the bike and I cannot take the call if needed.

Anyone find a way to make this work? I'll admit I am very new at this. But I wold like to make calls from my helmet some how some way. Do I have to go to the HD intercomm kit? Sure wish this was easier.

While many of us feel your "Boom Box pain" over its shortcomings, it's doubtful the Motor company will do much further development on this product. They'll most likely move onto another system before long. That's what FoMoCo and Audi have done and besides, most of ride to get away from text messages and incoming calls.

I completely agree. That's why I ride too. But my wife and daughters are a different story. I'd like to make sure I get those calls and texts. I tried hooking my phone up via USB and BT to the bike. I did get text notifications. But the music stopped and the only way to start it back up was to push play on the phone again. Is this a common issue? If I could get this to work right, I'd at least know if I needed to call home and could ignore the rest.

Is there a sound quality difference hooking up USB vs BT? If BT sounds just as good, I could get a USB connector that blocks the data connection and just gives the phone power to charge. Then use BT for music. This would be ideal. But I know on USB that the sound is really good. I get zero distortion using USB vs say the FM radio stations.

I believe Harley did do their homework on this, but i've got a Sena 20s and I don't know if that makes a difference or not . The Sena connects with my iphone and the BoomBox simultaneously. You just have to set option of where you want the audio to pump out to, boombox speakers or external speakers. Music info is displayed on the bottom of the NavScreen. Mine is set to pump out the music through the sena speakers but controlled the by Harley audio system.

Interesting! How did you sync the Sena with boombox? I couldn't get it to work.

I tried and tried. I could not get my SMH10R to connect to the bike. My unit is a few years old though. I think the 20S has dual BT processors and that is what helps you do it. Question, can you also receive and make calls with this setup? Do you hear the navigation break in when listening to music? If so, I'm upgrading to the 20S.

Thanks man!

The bike is bt receive only. It will only play a ring tone while connected to your phone
