Hey Guys,
I'm thinking about upgrading the cams on my 2014 SGS Special. Currently have Python tru duels, with Clock Werks slip ons, and an Arlen Ness Big sucker air cleaner and tuning the thing is a Vance & Hines FP3. I don't want to make monster horse power just looking for more low and mid range torque, but at the same time I don't want to induce more problems. I'm looking at an S&S 551 or an S&S MR103 kit with easy start. Want to keep the chain drive. Has anyone done something similar? Did you have issues using the auto tune on the FP3 to make everything run correctly? What did you think of the overall drivablity when you were done?

Thanks in advance?

I did the MR103, Rinehart true duals and big sucker, pulled great, took those out and put in wife's when I built the new motor, she loves them. Hers is tuned with a fp3, no problems, those cams are stored in the programs
.

2-1 exhaust will help a fair amount with low to mid torque. The velocity increase of exhaust flow helps create a scavenging effect in the heads. Cam lobe geometry is important here as well.

When you say, "Those cams are stored in the program" I never saw a place to enter Cams. Maybe I'm missing something??

I like the S&S 585 cams . they have a nice flat torque curve from 2500 up . my second choice would be the Fueling Reaper 574. I am running the 585 and you can tell when she hits 2500 rpm and never quits pulling up to redline. you should be able to find a map for these easily but i would do a custom tune with what ever cams you get . a good tune make a big difference.
