Chrome Polish on Motor

Is there any way to remove chrome polish that is on the black wrinkle finish?

I used an old toothbrush and some pigspit to lightly scrub the area (see if water or wd40 might also cut it), then wipe with an old t-shirt...

I'm kinda sold on Simple Green and a toothbrush, use this stuff on my car interior so you know it's good. Follow up with some S100 engine brightener.
Don't like Pig Spit, weird name.
