I received a gift card from my sister for my birthday last week, a month late, and decided to use if for a new jack. I already have a lift table in my parents garage, but wanted a jack in my garage. When I looked at the prices of there jacks it was about 80 for the steel and 160 for the aluminum. I decided on the aluminum jack. Went to Sear and it rung up for 190 before taxes. I showed him the link on my phone that shows it for 160 and he corrected it with no problem. How many people and paying more for in store then what is shown online. I try to always check on line prices first, just think of all the extra money these stores are getting. I plan on putting the jack to use today when I give her a bath this afternoon.

I have the metal Craftsman Jack.... I like it for detailing. Not sure if I like the lack of stability though... it might just be me, but seems to move around more than it should.

Furthmore... if you 'center' the jack... then lift.... and decide to take off the bags... think again. Now I know if I strap it down, there isn't an issue, but the weight transfer seems to be significant... and bags don't weight that much.

I'm surprised that taking the bags off would make a difference. What do they weight about 10 lbs total? Do you have the steel or aluminum jack?

I have the steel... and I make sure the feet are contacting the floor each time

Oh.. and forget about using it for fluid changes.... worthless! Too many cross pieces on the scissor to get anything in there... easiest on the jiffy stand.

I wonder if the aluminum is any different then the steel. I jacked it up yesterday and it feel pretty stable. I'm not worried about fluid changes, that's why I have the lift table. Just needed something at my house for mainly cleaning.

Test it out just 1" off the floor and rock it front to back... tjat will let you know

I have the steel (red) craftsman and changed my hole exhaust from stock to V & H using it and had no problems.
I did have the saddlebags off prior to raising the lift/bike and also got the job done without strappibg the bike to the lift.

I would't say there are not better lifts but for the $70 I paid for it it serves its purpose for me.
I also use it while cleaning my SGS on occasions.

I have the aluminum one and have no problems with it. Yea if I'm pulling the bags I just move the jack a bit forward. Love the jack very stable

I have the steel red one...works like a champ. I haven't had to strap it down either. Was under the rearend yesterday evening taking off the rear red reflector above the license plate with it jacked up a foot or so. Solid as a rock.
