Has anyone ever used customderbycover.com to order custom parts any issues ect. I bought a derby and timing cover from them I installed the derby cover and the 5 screws wouldn't torque kept turning. So I pulled the cover off and clear as day it wasnt machined deep enough where the screws go its twice the depth of the original one. Anyone else have any problems with an aftermarket cover ? Thank you for your time

Custom derby cover

No sir, the custom HD derby I bought came with new screws but I didn’t notice it they were the same length as the originals?

Looks like a trip to the local hardware store is your fix.

Question; in your top picture, are those thread shavings I’m seeing?

Yes metal shavings that came off the threads of the screws when I took them back out.

It’s good to hear they came off the screws and not the primary, but I was under the impression the screws were too short due to the (new) cover’s thickness to reach the threads in the primary?

I'm hoping all the shavings came out with the screws probably just do a complete flush to be safe. This place said to use factory screws cuz there derby covers are machined to original specs clear as day though u can see its twice the thickness of the stock cover

It’s hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like the first few threads in the primary cover are stripped?

Yes they are I was thinking about just getting maybe longer screws but if the chaincase is to stripped out then it wont do no good. I have to wait until Monday to get ahold of this place see what customer service they have and are going to do for me not being able to ride this weekend sucks

Ah OK, so the screws went in just far enough to pull out the primary threads once you added a bit of torque, bummer, that sucks!

Looks like you made the right decision - better safe than sorry.

Yeah I'm calling customderbycover.com Monday and see what there going to do the chaincase cover maybe stripped out and might need a new one all cuz they said its machined to spec and to use factory bolts

Will be interesting to hear what they tell you.

But if you want to get riding again anytime soon you might as well be prepared to fix it yourself. I’d take the outer primary cover off, tap the threads, clean it real good, and get some longer screws.

Late reply but of course customderbycover.com doesn't give 2 ****s about customer service and after speaking with the owner nothing got resolved I couldn't return it according to there policy but if they made the mistake should be returnable I would think. So I just had to bore out the primary cover to a 5/16 hole one size bigger and get Allen wrench head bolts. So just dont let ur buddies get screwed over horrible service and product I dont recommend customderbycover.com

Thanks for the heads up on this company. Good for our members to avoid these types of companies.
