Okay, Okay, so my wife told me not to do it and I did it so now I need some help. My 14 SGS was Morocco Gold but the new CVO is mostly black. We live down a 1 mile gravel road. The difference in dust appearance is overwhelming!!!

I knew it would be more work ( I have a dark blue crown vic also :p) but I guess it doesn't stir up as much gravel dust. I drive 5 mph in and out on the bike, and if it hasn't rained in the last 72 hours man o man. I can't imagine August with no rain.

I used a waterless wash from Adams on the 14, but I don't really want to rub the black that much. I am currently using Swiffer feather dusters. I spend 5 minutes or so at the end of the road each way now. Using 1 feather refill each day for the 2 trips.

Short of renting a storage building in town (which I'm seriously considering) what do some of you guys do? I can't be the only guy with a black bike on a gravel road.... well maybe

My bike is usually pretty dirty, dust, bugs more dust. I work at a landfill, so dust is always flying. I always tell myself "My Bike is for riding, Not for looking at" Just go with it....

I travel less than 1/4 mile on dirt road and it really pissed me off the first 2 summers. I surrendered and stopped worrying about it.

I wouldn't be able to handle that!! I hate riding up my gravel driveway & it's only 350ft of gravel. Chris

I was able to do that with the 14 since it didn't show up to bad. This is not going to work for me with this one. I'm going to start riding in and out with a bike cover on and hole cut out like a poncho!!

I would at least try to overcome the waterless wash. Obviously still a pain to wash every day, but in my opinion, a good old water hose is still the best way to ensure you've gotten all the particles that will produce the fine scratches. I would be most concerned with the areas that you might contact while riding-probably the tank-and try to keep them clean daily to avoid scratches and then maybe do a thorough full wash on w/e. Just a thought.....

BTW- I'm pretty particular and try to keep mine clean all the time. BUT, my first significant ride on my glide found me riding for hours in the rain, and then having to ride down down a gravel road and muddy lane to get to final destination. At first I wanted to cry, but then decided it's all about the riding and I can wash it later!

Hey Designflaw, you can park that CVO in my garage! Just be sure to leave the key fob and a full tank of gas! Oh yeah, and don't worry about the mileage, it seems that all the bikes parked in my garage mysteriously gain miles while being stored! LOL!

Brings back memories... Names "Jim", I was the guy (usually still hungover) that couldn't hold the light straight when dad was working on my car so.... heard "Dammit Jim" a Lot ! ha
My previous bike was black. I used/use "Purple Slice" to spray and rub down, even hot. Works great for a quick clean.

 I have had similar offers believe it or not!! Looking for something closer to the house in northern Scott Co though but I appreciate it.

I use the large microfiber in a 6 pack from Wally world auto section and Lucas Slick Mist...

Spray the microfiber lightly and dust with very little pressure. .. works for me every other day... 2-3 times a year I will hit it with a Porter-Cable 7424xp buffer with polish, then Wax, then sealer

Spazz
that pretty much is my SOP. The duster is actually working pretty well, so I may have to by stock for what I'll end up spending.

You did say that you were changing out the duster often, so you should be Google to go

Have you tried blown air from an air compressor? It does pretty good at getting light dust off.

I understand your problem very well. My farm is 4.5 miles of flint rock road from a paved highway. Dusty roads is a thing I always knew about but never really worried about until I got my black SGS. I too would ride slow but it didn't matter. If it rained at all it is a muddy mess. Anyway, I never wanted to use anything but water to rinse off the dust because of spider web scratches over time mount up. I would spray the bike down and use my shop vac on blow to dry. Sundays were wash day.
