I heard their is a difference in shocks on the 2014 streetglide and streetglide special. They say the special has better shocks. Has anyone heard this? If so what is the difference? Thanks guys

HMM haven't heard. Would like to see some photos if they are!
The SG regular has air shocks. I've been changing the pressure from 40 to 20 and I find the ride harsh going over bumps. I'll lower it to 15 today and see how that works. The special has mechanical adjustable shocks that are supposed to be better, but that's all I know. My SG is very smooth on thr road until you hit cracks in the road or tracks, then hold on to your back. They should have made the shocks a little softer. My '12 Fat Bob was smooth all around town.

hondameer,
In your owners manual there is an air pressure recommendation chart for your SG's adjustable air suspension system. I am not surprised you are experiencing a "harsh" ride with "40-20 lbs. air pressure" in your shocks, that is extreme pressure, unless you are loading hundreds of lbs. on your bike (rider, passenger + heavily loaded tour pack).
I am 175 lbs. and find I experience a smooth ride with 10 lbs. air pressure in my air suspension system. I would suggest you refer to your recommended air pressure chart recommendations, adjust accordingly, and experiment from that starting point.

Hope this helps,

I have 15 lbs in it and it's still harsh. I weigh 200 lbs and mostly ride alone with no baggage. I think the problem is with only 2.5 inches of travel in the rear shocks, but I will drop down to 10lbs today and see how that goes, thanks

In the H-D published specs the rear suspension travel is listed as 2.13 inches for the Street Glide and 3.0 inches for the Electra Glide. The only way to get a good ride on a stock Street Glide is on a smooth road. I put 13" CVO shocks on mine.

I read on another forum that they are changing the oil in the shocks and having good results. Stock is 5w and they say to change to 10w. I swapped out to amsoil medium 10w shock oil. I dont have any miles on it so i dont know if its better or not.

14 please let us know as soon as you have miles on. Want to know if this would be a cheaper potion then getting newsrooms cause these suck!! Lol

I came off a Vic Vision which was like riding on a sofa. This rear end doesn't seem to have much travel. Experimenting with the shocks. I will let you know if it gets better

Vics are really nice bikes but the Vision is really the ultra touring type of bike. I wanted something a little more fun and a little younger style of bike. If I had to keep the Vic I would have been fine but the HD get togethers, rides, dealers, shops, after market goodies, etc make the HD a fun bike plus a social one.
