Docking System on 2015 FLHXS

Thanks azglocker. So according to that picture, my right shock was installed upside down from the dealer when I bought it. It needs to be turned the other way in order to install the 4 point mounts or the backrest???

The 4 point docking station will mount just fine the way it is... but you cannot install the backrest with that shock inverted. There is not enuf clearance at the shock hoop to clear the bottom of the backrest where is it fitted to the shock.

Thanks Spazz. I actually went up to the dealer and talked to one of the managers. She had not heard of this, but assured me that she would take care of it. Again, I appreciate all of the input, as it gave me the ammo I needed to go get this taken care of on their dime, not mine!!

Bought a 2016 SGS in October of 2015, rear right shock had to be turned upside down. Service manager at Tecumseh MI HD did it without asking me. He said he knew I would be installing a docking system so he just did it. Good people.

That's great GunHawk. Before I found the manager that would take care of it, I called 2 different shops in the Phoenix area. Both said they charge to turn it. Sound crazy to me!!! Thanks again for all the assistance. I finally got it taken care of and can now mount my backrest.

Bought a 2016 street glide and had the same problem with the right shock need to be flipped upside down so that my detachable hardware would fit. I flipped it myself and problem solved. Someone at the factory needs to make sure that they mount them all the same way so that this doesn't happen.

All dealers have this info. One of the dealers here where I live just goes ahead and inverts the shock and ADDS the 4 point docking to ALL new touring bikes. They say it helps them sell accessories at purchase time. Smart move on their part and it takes care of the issue plus adds $$ to the selling price.
