Hello everyone. I am a new 2013 street glide owner. I have had it for about 4 months now and I am really loving it. I graduated from a 2007 night rod special. I am starting the phase of customizing it now. I have a few questions about the stretched bags.

First is fiberglass or abs? Is abs really worth 2 times the price. Sinister (abs) bags are $800. Fiberglass run about $400. I am really having a hard time justifying spending so much more.

Also would the fiberglass bottoms match up with the stock lids? Would you notice the difference once they are painted and installed?

Is it a big deal to get the stretched side covers as well? I can't seem to find a good picture of bikes with or without stretched side covers to tell the difference. Does it look stupid to keep the side covers stock or would it be OK?

Thanks guys. Got a lot of upgrades coming in the next few months and may need some expert help figuring it all out.

No nice fiberglass bags are $400. Any nice bag is from $800-1200. Don't cheap out for eBay saddle bags, they are junk. You will have more time in labor getting them straight..

Stock sidecovers look fine with stretched bags, looks much better with stretched ones though. Here is a pic with my bike with ness down and out 6" stretched bags with sinister stretched sidecoversImageUploadedByTapatalk1376370788.057920.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1376370819.352850.jpg

I agree with 1badbike2, you're not going to find a GOOD set of fiberglass bags for under $750 for the set. Have you verified that the price you saw for $400 was for the set and not per bag? One good thing about the ABS bags is that they will be smooth on the inside which is a plus if you do not plan on running bag liners. Also, there will be less prep work for your paint guy.

Stretched side covers.....you don't have to go this route but it definitely would make the bike look more "complete" with them.

Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide.

Yeah it is $400 for the set no lids. He guarantees The product. He did say they needed prepping, but my paint guy is my cousin and myself, so the prep work is not that big of a deal. he has a paint shop. He also has the stretched side covers for $230. worse case scenario is I have to pay shipping to send them back but he said he would refund me fully if I didn't like them.

Look up some reviews of guys who have bought off ebay. They are all junk. Very thin, tons of work needed, crappy exhaust cut outs. But I can only give my advice, doesn't mean much lol.

I will say that I really like the stretched bags on my CVO. This would be a mod worth doing.
