Hello all. Is anyone else experiencing Comm fail frequently? Seems like the Fuelpak quits communicating with the bike and I can't stay connected to module using bluetooth. I assume it's 2 separate problems as Bluetooth is only for me to communicate to pack. However when I am lucky enough to stay connected I frequently get a message that says Fuel pack has stopped working. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

El, I had the same thing last week and yesterday. Here is what I did that seemed to help. FP3 on startup while pairing with your phone, wants to establish a internet connection to initiate the check for updates. If your phone has not establish in WIFI, with wifi on. it fails. if you are not wifi (wifi off) established, but lack a strong 4g signal, it also fails to make an internet connection. So heres what I think and there are probably some tech savvy folks here that will correct me if Im wrong, if the start sequences of the app can not initiate with the FP3, then app doesn't function properly, I recommend always ensuring you make any changes or adjustments with a good established internet connection with wifi or 4G. You can also uninstall your FP3 app and reload it. For me my issues were with my phone settings and not the FP3 product.

I have been struggling with this one for a while guys.....even got a replacement unit from V&H but still the same issue. I found that the unit will not communicate with your phone if you have it connected to the bike when you start it up before the bluetooth connection takes place as the wired interface takes precedence and will not allow the BT to engage with your phone so you can't use the gauges or tell it to flash, etc....

The good news is that even if you can't connect the phone the bike is still auto tuning in the background if you have started an auto tune and then just don't plug it in next time you turn on the bike and do the update/flash........means if you want to calibrate the speedo or anything else on the phone (gauges??) you have to have it unplugged from the GPS/POS radio. I'm not sure if this is true with the standard radio or only the Boom. In either case this is a serious issue IMO and I'm surprised that V&H isn't addressing it. I talked to their Tech Support on the phone and they confirmed that you need to make the BT connection prior to making the hardwire connection or it won't see the FP3 even though the phone shows that it is connected via BT.

I have an iPhone (must the only one using iPhone with FP3 (NOT!!!!) and V&H blames it on Apple. Weird cuz with my Kenwood head unit in the car it also defaults to the wired interface but if I tell it to connect via BT it is smart enough to change......V&H should fix this as it's frustrating as hell to deal with this issue and simply pointing a finger at Apple is an easy fix.......some real engineering to address is hard and winners do the hard things where others do the easy.......just sayin'.

To add another two cents to the above...
Mine started failing the Bluetooth connection on and off - I had to go in and manually sync each time. Then it stopped connecting no matter what. It would say Bluetooth was connected in both the iPhone System menu and on the FP3 initial screen, but when I clicked to go to the maps it would say "connection failed" Called V&H and after some troubleshooting they sent me a replacement - so far so good.

Here's what finally fixed my problem. After many calls to V&H and many trips to the Verizon store only to wait in line for hours. We finally found out it was apps on my Samsung Galaxy 6S that was causing the interference. There is a way to go in to your phone settings and disable all your apps. Keep in mind, it just disables them does not delete them. Here's where the time consuming work comes in. I would activate one or two of tha apps at a time then go run the FP-3 App until the problem came back to where it would fail and quit communicating. Then I would disable one of the apps one at a time until the FP-3 didn't have any more comm. fails. Deleted that app and BAM no more problems. Not to say this is everyone's problem but another sure way to tell is load the FP-3 app on another phone and see if the problem is happening on that phone.
