FP3 Heat Issue

So here's where I'm at...

I have a 2015 SGS. Last year I added a Fuel Moto Rushmore A/C, decatted headpipe, RC components 4" slash up slip ons, and VIED's. Bike ran good all summer and fall. Over this past winter I changed the headpipe to the S&S PowerTune Duals, and got the FP3. The base map to use them "I was told" from V&H was Hi Output slipons w/ powerduals. After the flash, I started it up and let it run. I noticed after awhile the EITMS kicked on. I thought probably because of idling? It was probably 50 degrees out or so.Since the weather has been good the last few months I've been able to get out a good amount. It seems like the bike may be running hotter than before. The EITMS has kicked on a lot more than in the past. All different temps and riding conditions. Yesterday I checked the plugs and they seemed ok. Called V&H and they said I had the wrong map and told me to use twin slash round w/powerduals. So I did it, haven't tried riding yet. Anyone have a heat issue with a map? Any info? Thx....

D94- You probably don't have a heat problem. The EITMS is a royal pain in fact, Mine would cut in at 100 degrees. Many people disable this feature. It's annoying and useless unless your in stop and go traffic in July or do a lot of parades. Next time you think its running hot or the EITMS kicks in, press the Info rocker switch on the RH controls and check your Temp. It's my contention that HD has set the trigger on this feature too low. Mine has been disabled on the last 3 bikes with no adverse effects.
If it's truly running hot? Probably running too lean-let the FP3 do its thing.

Thx Mojo. Yes it truly is annoying! I can swear I turned it off a few times just to make sure, but I'll do it again. Pisses me off cause the bike runs and sounds great. Sux when I stop at a light and thug, thug, thug.…

Since you have the FP3 tuner you must have the app on your smart phone. If you leave the FP# connected while running the bike you can bring up the sensor data on you smart phone. Two pieces of info available are intake temperature and engine temperature. Looking at these values when you first start your bike and as you run should give you a sense a

Bern I think your reply was cut... sense of ??

Sorry, You can get a sense of how hot the engine is getting. I just upgraded to the Ultra Limited, and a new FP3 is on order so I can't tell you what mine runs for temperatures but I can tell you that the other day when I picked up the Ultra It reached 97 degrees and the EITMS was kicking on every time I stopped. Yesterday in 75 degree weather no EITMS when idling. My experience has been that it kicks on around 85 degrees and up.

Your engine does not have to be overheated for EITMS to engage: It will engage if the outdoor temperature is above the set threshold (around 80 F).

From the owners manual:
EITMS does not activate within the first four minutes after starting the vehicle.

EITMS activates (rear cylinder turns off) when all of the following conditions are met:

Ambient temperature OR engine temperature exceeds temperature threshold
Throttle control is at idle
Vehicle speed under 1 mph 2 km/h
Engine speed under 1200 rpm

I run the power duals and twin slash map you just flashed and mine runs really good without heat issues.

I got FP3 just ran off the Ireland's highway at 100MPH and my temp was at 238F. When I am on the stop and go it will kick on. Put syn oil in and enjoy your bike with FP3.
