FP3 or Power Commander

I am undecided between fuel management systems. I plan on going with the setup of V&H Power Duals with Destroyer Slip Ons and SE Heavy Breather Air cleaner. I originally wanted to go with the FP3. However, the shop I am going to recommends I do a dyno with the power commander instead of going with the FP3. What is everyone's opinion?

Most shops with a dyno also sell a fuel controllers as part of their package that's how they make money. Dynojet makes a lot of the dyno machines and so they sell the power commander with it and the techs are trained to use these. Nothing wrong with a good power commander but for best results you have to dyno for the tune. If you change anything to effect your tune (different exhaust or A/C) another dyno will be needed to remap the tune.

Just my 2 cents

If you want to spend the extra $300 on a dyno.... and NOT have the ability to tune yourself... go with the Power Commander. If you wan't to save that $300 for something else you might like and tune it yourself ( which is incredibly easy ) go with the FP3.

Either tuner will be a plus.... they will both tune for you, but the PC and a dyno costs a bit more. The tune from a dyno will be more precise, but the canned maps for the FP3 are 99% spot-on. Since you are doing all V/H, the maps will suit your system perfectly... as they do mine with a Pro Pipe.

+1 what he said . . .

I ran an FP3 my old Roadking, it worked fine. The only drawback I saw was it does not adjust the timing at all.
I'm running the PCV on this bike , but I do have access to a dyno when ever I need it at no cost.
I may invest in the auto tuner for the PC.

This ^^^^^^

I'm running an fp3. I think this thing is awesome. super easy to install and navigate thru. you can adjust your timing and spark. I believe its the best bang for the buck.

I have an FP3 and love it. I like how I can download maps to it using Bluetooth, no computers or cables required. Software and Map updates for it can be done easily from your Smartphone. Download the app to your phone and use the Demo function to get an idea of what it looks like. It also has an auto-tune function included, but I haven't used it yet. It doesn't have all the features of the Power Commander but for the average person, it does everything you need. The potential savings in dyno time alone is worth the price difference. Unless you're looking for a performance tuning product, the FP3 is all you need IMHO. I also like that you can do a Stage 1 without getting the software update from Harley, the FP3 does it for you. That itself will save a few hundred dollars.

+1 as well. I don't want to be bothered getting a dyno tune every time I make a change, I'd rather be riding. I also don't know squat about all the tuning stuff, so the FP3 was an obvious choice for me, and I can run auto tune and hit a button to make the change. Done.
