FP3 Placement

Once again, my apologies as a total new guy. I just swapped out my mufflers for CFRs and have a very slight and occasional, not frequent/often, pop on deceleration. I have been told that a tuner would fix that and that the FP3 is the way to go. I have watched a few videos on youtube, read reviews, and searched for information but cannot quite find what I want. Where do I mount this thing and how? I know it is plug and play but where do I leave it?

How is at affixed? Zip ties? Mounting bracket? Might you have a picture?

There is no mounting bracket. I drilled a couple holes in the backing plate plastic being careful not to hit anything behind (you much be careful!). I then used a ziptie and leave mine there at all times. If you look behind the left side cover you might get the idea.

You can tuck it in and leave it if you are worried about drilling into it, mine is tucked in towards the rear of the bike along the frame (sorry don't have a picture). It's been there for at least 15K miles, last time I had the side cover off it hadn't moved. I'll see if I can get a picture later today.

I just tuck mine behind the existing harnesses in there... it ain't going anywhere... especially with the panel on

Something else to note, you don't have to leave it on the bike but most use the autotune feature to fine tune the map. I just wedged it under the panel and haven't had any issues with it moving or anything.

It's doesn't need to stay on the bike unless in autotune as stated above... BUT... if you leave it, you monitor, IN REALTIME, many points of your engine at any given time.

A marvelous little device much to the chagrin of dyno shops and HD dealers!

Waiting on mine as well, and the CFR's both in the mail now. Any suggestions on the headers in comparing the Dresser Duals vs Power Duals?

When you install the CFRs, take a look at the rivets and make sure you install them left and right specific.

Thanks! I think I am going to hold off until I install my headers. That is a winter project....when the wife won't realize I have a few bucks squirreled away.

The wife said that based on what I paid for the bike I have to ride it all year. She also called me a $ussy for suggesting it might be too cold. I guess I'm buying some heavy duty cold weather gear! Aw shucks. ;)
