Greetings - just checking in for the first time.
I'm from TX, NE Austin to be specific. Anyone familiar with the city these days knows about
the traffic here so this puts riding across town to the hill country a little out of bounds for shorter evening rides. So
a lot of my r&r riding is out north & east of town. There's Brushy Creel Bar,Cele, Hannovers, Coupland Inn
close by to get a cold one, The hill country is great but riding out in the farm
roads a cool too. I never get uptight if I'm caught behind a combine. Always reminds me of International Harvester,
the song by Craig Morgan.
At any rate I've got an '03 RK CVO, the gold one with the stunning silver motor and inlaid gold leaf on the tank, An '06
Thunder Mountain bobber, both run strong. I put a Baker DD6 into the RK several years ago. The TMtn also has a 103 in it
and I've got original Samson BG3 up swept fishtails. The ones they made with the heat shields one piece, not hose clamped on,
real cool.
So last week I got lucky I guess with a '14 FLHXS I found for sale at the lake. Low miles, one owner but bone stock. First time I'm
buying new parts in a long time. Might shoulda looked a little longer for a fixed up one. Current parts prices are like gettin' kicked in the stomach.
So, last week when I was out on 1431 headed to the lake to take a peek at the SGS I thought I saw a white beemer coming up on me from behind really fast.
The closer he got the more I squeezed the throttle. I'm on the bobber and it takes the sweepers and the hills good. My eyes are focused straight ahead and eventually
the guy pulls up beside me. I never look over at him but I hear him yell. At which point I nail the throttle leaving him behind me and in my mirrors.
Not a beemer but a motors cop on a Harley with his christmas trees flashing red & blue. Didn't ticket me just chewed on me some. I looked on it as a lucky sign
saying buy this Street Glide, So I did.
Anyway, my wife rides, her '08 ST Deluxe. She's the traveler, I usually tag along a trip or two a year. I've probably got about fifteen states while she has I think
thirtyone at last count. I just buried my last two old dogs out on the cliff. That makes eight dogs in forty years. We've been a few months dogless now. We just rode over to Clarksdale Ms. & stayed out at the Shackup Inn. Very cool in my book. We're riding out to Santa Fe early July.
Sorry for rambling on so long but as my wife says, there are no short stories.
