New guy to the site and looking forward to some wisdom and insight of those that own the Street Glide. Been riding but haven't owned a HD since I sold my 02' Fatboy in 2004.

I've been researching the past 3-4 months, and looked at a few MY15 new and used. I spied a new 15' non special exactly the color that I would consider making an offer on but the thing is way overpriced at $36k due to dealer add-ons. A CVO isn't anything I would consider but they had one for about the same money.

The only hang tag on the bike was the option list that was $12k including labor. Which means the price of the bike was $24k. It did have an SGS option, Reflex brakes. I didn't talk any money/deal with the sales guy, told him I was just kicking tires and looking for some info.

Don't get me wrong, the thing has everything I would probably spend to get it there but doing a little backing into that number says they've overpriced the bike and parts.

I would like to make a reasonable offer at some point without getting laughed out of the place. Just need some advice on if I should, or just keep searching. We have the good fortune of several dealers within a 50 mile radius. This particular one isn't the chosen one from what I've heard.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Here's the major add-ons I recall;

Chrome wheels (Enforcer)
Chrome front end
Extended CVO bags
Color matched inner fairing
Chrome 8" bars and controls (stock chrome mirrors)
Rhinehart slip-on pipes
Legend air suspension (onboard compressor style)
Daymaker headlamp

You should be able to buy a street glide special for 24k or less

The personal preference comes into play here. ... would you add everything it's got or change something up if you started from scratch?

Would you PAY to have it done or do it yourelf? This is a major cost savings ....

So.. if you would Change ANYTHING.... AND do it yourself... buy a stock SGS and add on what you want... you will be way ahead and more personalized for you.

I actually consider this as an option.

Although nice, the air suspension would probably be the only thing I wouldn't do if building from a scratch SGS. All the other stuff is what I consider the must haves. Some I would DIY, things like the wheel change out, chrome front I would have to sub out. Thanks for the reply...

I did my enforcers in chrome... along with polished rotors and chrome rear pulley for $1300. Don't know what the breakdown is but....

Did my chrome front end for $217... all this is DIY with about $100 in specialty tools

Welcome to the fun. Me I would build what you want unless the other one has everything your heart desires. I have noticed people on this site changed their minds and changed things up a couple times before we are happy. It's always a work in progress as I see it

Good luck with your choice.
