So going on day number three of trying to install my mini-apes. When I skimmed the procedure for replacing the handlebars, I never would have imagined that my bike would be laying half disassembled in my garage, all the fairings off, fuel tank off, etc. As I was trying to get the outer clutch cover off last night to replace the clutch fluid line, I realized I was going to have to remove my power duals because the cross pipe is blocking the cover. I also discovered the copper washer between the fluid line and the secondary clutch actuator is not included in the replacement line kit.
I was also reading last night that if you touch the brake system at all on an ABS bike then it has to hooked up to the Digital Tech II to ensure there are no bubbles in the system. Does anyone who did their bars know the details? Am I going to have a non-functional ABS till I take it to the dealership?
Lot of steps involved for a handlebar. Eight days to Rolling Thunder. Hope it's put back together by then!
