For those of you struggling with the bulkiness of the protruding bag bolts on the 2017's there is a cheap solution:
Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get some Stainless mushroom head bolts. They are cheap and screw right into the Harley OEM backing nut leaving you added space in your bag and added security as you use an Allen wrench to remove them. Problem solved, money saved!

Been using those on my 15 SGS bags since 2015, with heavier U-Nuts behind- total cost: $3.83. I only use them on the front, keeping the HD pins on the rear of each bag. Did this due to horror stories about lost, stolen bags I read right here on this blog. I show these to everybody and since then 2 buddies have had bags stolen, and one lost a bag while riding. $3.83 vs hella dollars!
