Hi does anyone have any idea as to the best way to install a headset socket. My local dealer ordered me me cable that was thought to go into the back of the radio then to drill the socket into the dash. Theres obviously some other wiring needed anyone have any ideas?

This is the one HD list for our bikes. http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/boom!-audio-music---comm-kit

There is another plug that's used on CVO's and then mounts into the inner fairing, but it does have a different plug on the radio end. I don't know if the CVO's works with our wiring harness and we don't have a opening in the fairing though it would be easy to make a opening.

I have a CVO plug but ended up using the one in the link above. I didn't like that it installed on the fuel tank console, so I installed it in my mid-frame deflector. If fit neatly between the tank and seat and not very noticeable in that location.

There is enough room for the (link) cable inside the fairing if you want it on the dash!

Hope that helps!

I have the Harley kit that mounts on the dash. No drilling required. The headset jack end comes with a small bracket that goes underneath the dash panel and rests on a spongy pad that sits on top of the tank. I did not remove my tank as the instructions say so the wiring is not in the wire tunnel but I have it ziptied underneath the tank neatly. It plugs int othe back of the boom box radio. The only issue was popping out a blank in one of the existing connectors to plug in the ground wire. Harley does not tell you about this up front and do not supply the tools to do it. I have electronics experience so I was able to make it work.

The kit works good though.

I used the standard part for the 14 year. It was really easy to install. I was looking at doing the CVO (69201025) version but could not pass up a 50% sale on the other piece.

Skeeter what did you do with the CVO plug? I might be interested if you want to get rid if it.

Still have the harness and a weather cap in original unopened packaging for CVO inner fairing installation. (69201025 Harness, Audio) (69200237 Weather Cap Asy) If your interested in them, I'm sure we can work something out!
