I took my 2018 SGS (which has the Boom Audio Stage 2 Amp & Speakers in the front fairing), to the dealer to get flashed. I got a call from the Service Writer at the dealer today telling me that the flash was complete, but the speakers sound distorted and he did not think I would be happy with it. He then went on to say that the best way to describe it was that it sounded like a weak FM radio signal. He also said that they sometimes get bad FM radio signals in the service area. I asked if they tried listening to music on a USB memory stick to see if that was the problem and he said that no one in the shop had a USB memory stick to try. I will be going to pick the bike up either this evening or tomorrow morning. Can anyone please advise what the current flash procedure is for the Boom Audio Stage 2 Amp & Fairing Speakers, so that I can verify that it has been done correctly via the HD Digital Technician? I have heard stories about HD making this procedure so confusing, that even some technicians are confused about how to properly flash the radio.

I'll also add that I asked if there was any problem with the bike accepting the flash and the Service Writer said that there wasn't.

Problem found (Technician's error). He had the wrong box checked on the HD Digital Tech. I'm good to go now.

How do you like the stage 2 speakers? I am thinking about getting them for my street glide special and wondered if it's worth it.

I like them a lot, but I would like to point out that the sound of the Boom Audio Stage 2 amp and speakers is different than my JM Corp amp and Focal speakers on my 2015 SGS. The Stage 2 speakers have more bass than my Focal speakers, whereas the Focals are very bright and crisp. I have the bass turned all the way down with the Stage 2 speakers and they still produce just the right amount of bass for me. I won't have any issue hearing them at 75-80 mph. I am beginning to wonder if those who have blown their Stage 2 speakers, are simply dialing up too much bass and running them at very high volume levels.

You do plan on running the Boom Audio amp if you install the Stage 2 speakers right? I don't know if there is much benefit to running them without the amp.

Plan to run the amp as well.

Hi did you do the install yourseft for the stage 2? I’ve started the install. Replaced front speakers and mounded rear amp.
I’m confused about two connections;
1- I can’t figure out where the front speakers and the included harness for the woofer connect to.
2-Also on the rear harness I can’t find where the amplifier input connector goes to.
Very confusing.

Yes, I did instsll the Boom Audio Stage 2 (fairing amp and speakers only) on my 2018 SGS. Here are a couple of pics, which should help you a bit with the orientation. Unfortunately, I don't have pics of the speakers plugged up, because the pod/speakers were not installed when I took theses pics. However, you should be able to see the Boom speaker harness connectors hanging and ready to plug into the left and right speaker connectors. As for the rear amp speaker feed, I believe you need to plus the Boom extension harness for the rear speakers into the black connector (which has the rubber stopper in it), that you see next to the white plug on the left side (on top) of the amp. Let me go out and look at my rear amplifier input harness to see if I can assist you with that as well. I'll post back here on that shortly.

Okay, here are pics of the two additional Boom connectors. The long one is the speaker extension harness that I mentioned in my previous post. The second connector plugs into the black connector on top of the amp. I believe it is to give you the option of installing another Boom amp to feed speakers in lower pods if you intend to run those. This is about as much as I can assist you at this point, as I don't have a rear amp input connection to know what it connects too up front. If you don't figure the rest out soon, I'll ask my brother to post on here. He has three Boom Audio amps on his 2017 CVO SG and I'm sure he can help you with the rest. Good luck for now.

Hi I don’t see the attachments for some reason. Stage II front woofer speakers I believe run back to my new rear harness but plugs do t match up.
I guess I’ll take the harness’s to the dealership and let them do it since I replaced the four speakers and mounted the amp already.
Thanks
Tom

Not sure why the pics are not showing up for you, as I can see them in my previous post. If you can hold off just a little longer, I will ask my brother to take pics of his Boom Audio II amp install. I expect to see him in another hour or so and will ask him to help you. His bike is partially disassembled right now, so it should be easy for him to take pics. Once he does so and sends them to me, I'll post them here for you.

I got your pm and sent my info.
Good morning!
Thanks so much for your help.

My bike already had the stage 1 from the factory with 4 speakers on my ultra.
Stage 2 replaces the 4 stage 1 speakers and adds the rear amp.
It’s supposed to be easy.
Apparently the factory faring amp is supposed to power the 4 woofers as the stake on wires get reused fir the woofers.
The 4 tweeter and mid range have molex plugs.
The front 2 get joined together with a Y connector provided.
I think That Y connector is supposed to go back to rear amp because the first amp is still wired and powering the 4 new woofers via the two wire stake ons that fed original speakers.
Thanks so much for your help. Tom

It sounds like the dealer got something wrong in the flash. I run zero bass in mine and it still has a lot of bass. They have to make sure they check the right boxes. The Digi Tech machine should be self explanatory as to which boxes they need to check for the flash.
