I have been searching around and am as confused as ever. Point me in the right direction. I listen to mostly rock and country with a wide range of other music mixed in. I am sticking with just the fairing speakers with very little chance of adding more
speakers.
I ride 50/50 highway and back roads. I don't listen very loud so I really want a clean sounding setup.

I would rather spend the money once than upgrade later. I am looking to spend under $800 if possible. I have wiggle room but that would cut into other upgrades

2015 Street Glide Special

Have you looked at our new forum sponsor, no cage audio? He doesnt have the 14+ stuff up on his site ,but he has it, and he has a special running right now even, and a better deal for forum members

A good, solid system (Amp and speakers) in your price range would be J&M. I had a 250w on my 14 SGS and it was pretty awesome. There are more powerful systems out there (soundzcustomz.com) but they are also more expensive. Good luck with your decision.

Like MoJo, I had the J & M and soundz is popular as well but you probably are going to be in the 1200 range with either of their top 2 speaker systems but there's probably something in your price range with either. There is a new sponsor no cage audio that may be able to help.

I would add to your budget just because I started out with what I thought I wanted but ended up adding later and more cost. One of the first things I would do is get a good windshield to reduce wind noise first. Built my system and then changed from a wind splitter to the clearview shield and what a difference that made. Went from 3/4 volume to 1/2. Running the Soundz system with the 125 watt amp with Focals then upgraded to the 600 watt amp and the Focal fairing speakers and Hybrid audio 5X7 in the bags. Normally running bout half volume and or below and the sound is amazing. Have lots of friends that ride close so they can listen to the tunes also.

There are lots of different systems out there I wouldn't do anything below a 250 watt amp and good speakers. Keep us posted on what you decide on and make sure it has a warrantee.

Hey 53Chevy,

For your budget ($800.00) there are some really good options.

IMO...one of the best built, plug and play systems out there at any price is the Arc Audio MPAK 11 system. This system includes the Arc Moto 600.4 amp (150 Watts RMS x 4 channels), Arc Moto 602 V2 speakers, 8 Ga amp wiring harness, 2014+ streetglide HD adapter harness and everything you need to hook your system up. There is no cutting of any factory wires. This come with really good step by step instructions and is about a 4-5 hour install start to finish.

This system ROCKS straight out of the box. No line levelers needed, no flashes needed.

The Arc Moto 600.4 amp has become the "Standard" that other Motorcycle amps are measured to. With this amp you will be using channels 1-2 for you faring speakers. If you ever decide to add more speakers to your Lids, rear pods or lowers. you just run the speaker wires to channels 3-4, flip the switch on the amp from 2 speakers to 4 speakers adjust the Freq. and gain for channels 3-4 and your good to go.

List price for this unit is $1,069.00
No Cage Audio Forum pricing $825.00
New SG sponsor additional discount ($50.00) (discount expires 1-22-17)
Your cost shipped to your door $775.00

I didnt read all the posts but i skimmed them. My suggestion/
.02 - stay sway from hogtunes and j&m. Phase 1 of my audio build was fairing only. I did hertz spl show 165.1 mid drivers, ddb3 horns (in mirror holes - i have bar mounted mirrors), diamond micro 4v2 amp, Biketronics line leveler - all from stock head unit. This got me crystal clear, ear piercing loud at over 100mph. It was all apx 800.00. Note that, like with the stock head unit, you will still lose your low end frequencies when starting the bike. You can eliminate that by either replacing your head unit or using a digital processor like the jl audio fix86. Both of those options will allow you to eliminate the line leveler. Again, my .02. If you need a contact for the parts hit up chris lowe on Facebook via his personal page, garage bagger stereo (his biz page) or harley davidson bagger stereo...good luck!!
