Hertx HCX 165 speakers

Has anyone with a 17 up street Glide installed these in the pods.

I have heard they will not fit on the outside of the pods on 17 up models, they need to go inside the pods due to clearance issues even with hogtunes grills.

Any help would be appreciated!

Are they don't look much different than the Focal 165 KRC speakers. I mounted mine on the outside of my pods using the factory mounting holes. I did have to use the J&M Corp mesh metal grills (which are the same as the HD grills btw), for clearance. I think you would be fine on clearance going this route.

What year bike did you put them in? I have heard the 17 up pods are different than the 14 thru 16 pods. Mine are black and the pods on my 15 where white.

I put them in my 2015 which has white pods as well. I also have a 2018 with black pods, but they are identical to the pods on my 2015. I installed Boom Audio II speakers in my 2018 and can confirm that aside from the color, the pods from 2014-2018 are in fact identical. Here are the grills that I used to ensure I had enough clearance. I ordered mine direct from J&M, but the eBay price is better.

Those grills do look exactly like the hogtunes grills.
